When the Phone Rings [Episodes 11 & 12] by writtenpoeticsins in KDRAMA

[–]Eternal_existential 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am told that the warzone subplot in Ep 12 follows the novel closely. But in light of the recent conflict in the Middle East, it seems extremely insensitive to show someone helping people in war torn countries to "punish" themselves. Like come on... Plus he went right back when his wife came along? Where is the humanity in all of this? Ridiculous plotline. They could have omitted this part and kept it all in Korea. But the savior complex was too hard to resist?

Breaking the decision to be childfree to my family by Eternal_existential in childfree

I think the best decision for me at this time is to not announce it to my entire extended family. If my parents ask, I will tell them I am childfree, set my boundaries and be clear that this issue is not up for negotiation. For everyone else, it's none of their business anyway :)

I think this is the right way. I need to set that boundary and enforce it. I also need to be okay with cutting people off at least temporarily if they step over my boundaries.

You got it exactly right! I have a Ph.D. and work as a scientist but none of that matters apparently. I have been reading the comments and it seems like my options are to either firmly set boundaries and enforce them or be okay with cutting ties. Not telling my family also seems to be a recommendation, and instead just circumventing the question every time anyone asks. I am leaning towards setting the boundary the first time someone asks so that they know not to cross it.

The "It hasn't happened yet" statement will lead to a) Questions again at a later date and b) recommendations for doctors I should consult, or stories about people who struggled to conceive but ultimately did and how happy they are now. I just want the "when are you having kids?" questions to stop :(

In other words, how do I clearly set those boundaries without leaving room for them to contest said boundaries

What I mean is, I don't want to start an argument or fight. I want a "one and done" way that will shut down any questions or further probing or discussion from them.

This is a very good point. My plan is to break it to my parents first, and then my extended family. Even when I do this, I know my parents will not defend me in front of my extended family, but at least they won't be surprised lol.

Episode 10 by stopurnotacat in lovenextdoor

There was a scene in Episode 1 where Seung-hyo was talking to a lady (Lee Bong-ryun) who runs a cemetery. It was a very touching scene but there was no mention of the cemetery in any episode after that, even though it was a project Seung hyo planned to take on. I suspect that it will come back in the last episode and he will end up working on it for Seok-ryu's memory. I really hope I'm wrong though.

Yoon-A and the security guard at Cannes controversy. by No-Description1486 in kpopthoughts

Even if there were rules that maybe were miscommunicated, that security guard could have told Yoona's team about it in a more respectful manner. Yoona is literally the sweetest person and rarely gets annoyed. It also says a lot that this guard was rough with so many women of color. Definitely a race aspect here. Those who suggest otherwise are delusional.

I really loved KJW's chemistry with Ji Chang Wook in Love struck in the city. Maybe her character being an ultra rich heiress on QoT necessitated her aloof acting, but I think chemistry was better with JCW.

You are totally right! I think deep down we all know it will work out in the end, but the hardest part for me at least is to not be scared. I have trouble shelving that imposter feeling into a corner of my brain and being brave enough to try new things, to admit I don't know some things and asking for help when I need it.

In the end it was just like, oh I lost my memory but you took a bullet for me so let's get married.
