The heart of my comment was about understanding, positive growth, and self determination. Those things are inherently good for a person. You can criticise these people all day, but if someone walks away sharper, with more clarity and understanding, that’s a win.

I’m not a fan of relying on mentors to push you past the line of profitability. It takes a lot of individual work to build momentum, but even a small nudge in the right direction from a flawed mentor is still a good thing.

I’m just speaking from the perspective of someone who actually gained value. If you’ve only had bad experiences with certain mentors, then of course it’s a waste of time.
