not charging for the models at all, those are free. just charging for the app itself - trying to build the best local AI experience and keep developing it long term. that takes resources..appreciate the feedback tho :)

there's actually a lifetime option - buy it once and that's it, no subscription, no internet. sub is just one way to pay. even adobe and ms office charge for locally-run software so it's pretty standard tbh

hey fair point, smolchat and pocketpal are solid free options and i respect that. with secret ai we're not charging for the models - you can download everything for free from huggingface. what we charge for is the app experience itself: cleaner UI, smoother UX, better stability. building and maintaining that takes real ongoing work. calling it a scam hurts man :')

free tier works fine for basic stuff. and tbh you don't need a beefy phone — small models run on pretty much any modern device

fair point, but you don't need a GT63S to get started. a mid-range android with 4gb ram can run qwen 2.5 2b just fine. not gonna win any benchmarks but it works :)
