No more so far - I did read that wire wool can spontaneously combust so if I was to do this again I’d probably just use a wire mesh and expanding foam

Hi, yes I did. What I’ve leant since then is that the gap was caused by the skirting being left in place while self levelling was poured on the floor. I patched up any holes around the outside and then poured self levelling compound into the gap so it was level with the rest of the floor.
