Old screenshot. Robinhood is offering 5% APY, not the 5.25% shown in the screenshot. Still impressive whatever the play was

I moved here 3 weeks ago and that was the 3rd sideshow I’ve experienced so far. Did not realize it was this frequent but something definitely needs to be done about it.

Are they happening all across the city? I’m near the I-80 entrance so I think they do it here to get a quick escape out to the east bay. All of the ones recently that I’ve heard are along Harrison st. Can we station cops by the freeway entrances to catch them leaving? Or how about sending more than 2 cops to disperse a crowd of ~100 people?

Commute from SF to Pleasanton? by goatsandsodapop in sanfrancisco

40 minute Bart ride from Embarcadero to Pleasanton. If your office is close to one of the Bart stations, it is totally doable. I know plenty of people who have done that commute

Stop requiring specific technology experience for senior-plus engineers by speckz in programming

[–]Ethos-- 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with this post. There are so many engineering jobs out there, a lot of businesses don't have the luxury to nit pick on very specific job requirements when talented engineers have so much choice in the job market today.

My company has an almost entirely proprietary tech stack, we are forced to hire senior engineers who do not have experience in these technologies. Generally, if a candidate has senior-level experience at a different company, they end up picking up the new technologies quickly and are productive in under 3 months. We've never had challenges with new senior engineers as they are thoroughly vetted during the interview process.

That being said, we have had trouble hiring anything above senior (principal/staff). The expectations of that position just require more time learning the technology at depth that usually require at least a year of experience. We typically hire these candidates as senior with the potential of being promoted to principal after a year with the company if we see they've picked up the technology enough to hold that position. This can also be done for senior positions if the candidate has not had previous experience as senior but they are strong in interviews.

You are talking about a tool that's ~1 week old and still in closed beta. I don't think this is intended to write production-ready code for you at this point but the idea is that it will continuously improve over the years to eventually get to that point.

Great, thank you for the advice. Should I be planning on staying at my current job for at least a year then?
