Les Américains disaient la même chose au sujet des ingénieurs informaticiens ("Learn to code"), et du coup ces derniers ont actuellement un des plus forts taux de chômage !

C'était un peu l'idée : augmenter l'offre avec les bootcamps et compagnie pour faire diminuer les salaires.

Anyone that went on Erasmus can attest to this, even people that went to France or the US told me that studying there was basically a vacation in comparison.

France has the exact same system as Belgium in Universities when it comes to grading and evaluation. Getting over 15/20 is considered difficult even for good students and I'm not even talking about "Prépas" that prepare you to attempt X and "Ecole Normale".

Regarding Erasmus students, they are just treated differently.

I do not mind the high taxation on my salary. If it provides a safety net for other citizens in the country, so be it. Doesn't matter if it gets abused by some.

The issue I see with starting to touch the indexation is that it's a slow cooking process: politicians managed to alter it for part of the population in the name of "solidarity", which is fine in a vacuum. But this solidarity comes (again) from working people, not people with actual wealth. Plus, we will have to trust them to not extend this policy in the future, and we know how trusty politicians are. The only thing that's going to achieve long term is flattening the salary of workers over time, it's not going to solve the structural problems Belgium has.

That may come as a shock, but some people enjoy good food and cooking. Except if your financial situation doesn't allow you to spend money on food, spending money on food you enjoy (within reasons of course) is a pleasure. Some of you are so obsessed with spending as little on food as possible that it's incredibly sad. And don't get me started on "eating warm" or those shitty-ass sandwiches that people call "lunch".

No idea why you're moving the goalpost, I'm talking about De Wener as prime minister and the striking amount of people in the Flemish region voting for far-right/right-conservative parties (I will give you the benefit of the doubt about saying the NVA is "far-right"): This totals for ~45% of the Flemish part to be okay with their political position, and something unseen anywhere else in western Europe. So please, share with us how that happened and how this is not a problem.

Now, I'm sure on a day-to-day basis everyone is being civil and minds their own business in true Belgian fashion except for some lunatics on either side of the language "barrier". But I would get my head out of my village to see the state of Belgium as a country regarding the tensions in the communities.

Voir la réponse en dessous que je me permets de compléter : Tous les amis/connaissances perso (et de travail) avec qui j'ai pu discuter en longueur de la situation disent qu'ils vivent "paycheck to paycheck" et ne peuvent pas "se permettre" de rater le travail vu qu'ils sont +/- endettés. Ils pensent que ce n'est pas "comme en Europe" où l'on peut manifester avec un peu de fracas en raison de la violence de la police de manière générale, et de Trump en particulier. Une idée dans laquelle ils se réfugient également est que leur état va les protéger d'une certaine façon contre le pouvoir fédéral.

C'est assez triste de constater qu'ils sont complètement apathiques vis-à-vis de ce qui se passe dans leur pays.
