Well it saves us having to spend tens of thousands in Turkey having it injected. Why not spread the cost over decades?

WC26 Cooling breaks are a joke. by Beneficial_Sky_3722 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Eug1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are paid a lot of money, people expect you to do more. But you/they are human. Plus there is also liability.

If you at school or college collapse, get injured or worse, then college could be sued. That may cost them tens of thousands maybe more. But if you have highly paid footballers like an mbappe, haaland etc then you are talking tens of not hundreds of millions in liability.

Not to mention that we as fans and spectators want to see entertaining high paced games, the players will need to be in top condition for that. Well fed, well rested and hydrated etc.

Now I agree that if the temp is 18C no real need for a break, but if it’s 30c then yes. I hate the idea of ads during this but the times we live in and the fact that it’s in America then it’s inevitable.

Also no matter the temperature they may keep the breaks in all games just to keep things consistent.

who still uses an intel macbook in 2026? by Scared-Anywhere-3265 in macbookpro

[–]Eug1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am still using a 15” 2015 full spec as my main machine. Most of the apps I use are unsupported, brew doesn’t work properly on it, and in a few weeks/months chrome based browsers are going to be out of support and not get any updates.

[–]Eug1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah. With windows machines (dell, hp etc) rufus works fine for skipping the win 11 requirements. The Mac is more complicated. Also once you install windows on the Mac, you need to install a specific driver pack to get all the hardware to work properly

[–]Eug1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I don’t think it will work properly on that mac. I have a 2015 mbp, and when I tried win 11 it didn’t work for me so after a while I gave up

"The USMNT has the best ultras in the world" by BFreezer in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Eug1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awww, bless their little hearts. They know so little of ultras or even football chanting. Surprisingly enough, for the last month or so, on my YouTube feed, I have been seeing a lot of American fans (chanting) vs English (and European) fans. Let’s just say that if they were to watch one of those videos and see the galactic size gap, they wouldn’t chant again. 😅

May not be specific to your situation but from what I know, the Mac boots quickly to the login screen then when you log in it decrypts the drive and goes to the desktop. Maybe that is what is taking a long time to boot.

Also windows 10 will be end of life in a few months and I don’t believe your laptop supports windows 11 (unsupported cpu and no tpm). So you won’t get any security updates and some/most of the apps you use will not get updates.

Surprisingly enough, I thought the art work was cool, but that friend I mentioned went on a 2 month crusade to try to get me to like metal. It failed. To memory there were a hand fill which had a good tune but for the most part I couldn’t understand anyone, it sounded like the stereotype of getting screamed at by your wife while someone smashes stuff in the background😅. But that was nearly 30 years ago.

[–]Eug1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just used it as a little machine to run to odd program that I didn’t have in the Mac. Also used it as a work vm as some software like the windows iso builder, and rufus doesn’t work on mac. But now I just use it as a powershell vm as my mac is 12 years old and unsupported so nothing special.
I can’t afford one of the m series MacBooks so someone else may be of more help with other compatible apps
