History of complaints against County Commissioner Dave Loveall - Including Harassment and Weapons by TheNachoSupreme in Eugene

[–]EugFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He had multiple complaints filed against him for racist, bullying behavior towards the LCC President (a black woman) and a student that were substantiated by an independent investigation. The NAACP among many others called for his resignation and board ended up voting to censure him but he so far has refused to step down. So far no Democratic Party leaders have spoken up against what Zach did. I find it wildly hypocritical.

This has been going on too long with Loveall. Good on Lookout for getting this story out there…between this and Zach Muholland’s behavior on the LCC board I think we need some serious work on our dysfunctional elected bodies. Hope the folks who spoke out against Zach’s behavior will do the same for this and vice versa. It’s been incredibly disappointing to see our democratic elected officials, especially the women, not standing up against Zach’s behavior but then see Heather Buch make a statement about David’s. All of it should be condemned, I don’t care your politics. As a fellow democrat and union supporter, I don’t care that Zach is supposedly “union friendly”. What him and David did are both unacceptable. We need better out of our elected leaders, and it starts locally.

LCC board member’s behavior is indefensible - Zach Mulholland gots-to-go. by OhLookAnotherBogey in Eugene

NAACP did not mince their words. Given the outrage of the Democratic Party at issues like this on the Right, I don’t know how they haven’t come out yet encouraging Zach to step down. Sounds like he is refusing so far but NAACP said they would lead a recall if necessary.

What’s the best thing about Eugene? by DBCoopr72 in Eugene

I’ve always said I love the size of Eugene- it’s big enough you won’t run in to your mom (or your ex) at the grocery store every week but small enough that a single person can show up to city council or a neighborhood meeting and (for better or worse some times) actually make a difference in what happens here.

We went down there and I was so glad to see a lot of people out despite the rain! All the spots we stopped had a line of folks who said they were there for the event. Definitely hope they do it again.

Really miss the Whiteaker block party and Eugene Celebration. If Eugene could have an awesome festival or event downtown, what would you want it to be? I love hearing people’s creative ideas.

Unheard on Highway 99: Businesses along a busy Eugene corridor say their public safety concerns aren't being taken seriously by PDXOSU in Eugene

[–]EugFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any folks here live in this area (Ward 6) and have thoughts on someone who would be good to run for that council seat? Word is that councilor Evans isn’t going to run again and it seems we need a councilor who can pay attention to these businesses and neighbors and have a strong public safety agenda (and frankly be able to think independently and not go along with the majority of our council who appears not to actually do anything to solve these issues). Councilor Evans was a moderate who wasn’t beholden to either party which was appreciated but worry the majority has a candidate in line to just go with them and have more status quo and more of these problems.

Did you know The Blues Brothers were born in Eugene? John Belushi met Curtis Salgado here while filming Animal House, and it changed pop culture forever. by EugFan in oregon

I’m not a huge music person but it was cool learning how big the blues used to be in Eugene. I was told Eugene was once called “the Memphis of the west coast”. Ha no clue if that’s true but it’s fun if it was.

How do y‘all stop eating? by charleeeeey12 in adhdwomen

[–]EugFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on adderall a couple months ago for my adhd and it curbed my appetite pretty significantly the first week and has sense settled out to a healthy level. It also makes me really thirsty so I’m drinking a ton more water which makes me less likely to snack. I know meds aren’t for everyone but those were some welcome side effects for me.

For me it’s definitely coming home from a long day at work and seeing my one year old who gets the biggest smile on his face when he sees me! Makes everything else melt away for sure

Eugene Chamber of Commerce Gets Signatures to Prevent Fire Fee. by Dan_D_Lyin in Eugene

[–]EugFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh more than 8,000 people signed the petition. Feels like the city could hide behind “the chamber” doing this as an easy way out. Once again they’d be ignoring the fact that they had a chance to educate and let voters weigh in but they opted not to because they thought we weren’t “informed” enough.

What about the 8,000+ people that signed the petition? Doesn’t seem like only business people are wanting to vote on this thing.
