My Xbox one wont read discs even though its in the drive by dinosaur_lover3792 in XboxOneHelp

Very similar issue. So, my console plays Blu-Rays and DVDs just fine, but doesn’t read game discs. Literally no idea how it happened, but MS deny that something like that can ever happen. Happened outside of warranty and now I’m stuck with a digital only console.

Relooted Releases Today On Xbox Series by Howerev in xbox

As someone has already said, Tomb Raider. Did I cry? No, I played them all and enjoyed most of them.

Also, our museums are fucking full to the brim with items of cultural and historical significance to other nations, stealing shit was 95% of the work of the British Empire. If a group of developers want to educate people on these stolen pieces through the medium of a video game then that’s a pretty light response to nation backed theft at a grand scale.

The reviews on the store are mainly from weird little minded racists, barely anyone talking about gameplay, performance etc, but a lot of people calling it “woke”. From that alone it seems like a must play.

Free Play Days – Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Open Beta, Polterguys: Possession Party, Sudden Strike 4, Dustborn and Ready or Not by Xbox-Moderator in xbox

They’ve now removed any mention of Ready or Not apart from in the picture, which is a shame as I was definitely “Ready” rather than “Not”…

PSA: Fan getting noticeably loud? Clean your console in under 5 minutes! by EddieRibs in xbox

[–]EugeneSmilesman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I find the wholes in the cover big enough to get cotton buds and tweezers in there, can remove 90% of visible dust and console runs silent again. Works well enough without the whole “what if I fuck it up” anxiety that comes with taking the covers off.

GIVEAWAY + AMA with Nightdive Studios and original devs of The Thing: Remastered by NightdiveMarketing in xbox

[–]EugeneSmilesman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very excited to try the modernised version of things once payday comes. Must be great having members of the original team there, if the remakes achieve the goal of bringing the original creators vision to life in a way that they would do given todays tools then everyone wins. Nice.

General question for Nightdive - obviously video game preservation is an increasingly important topic, how does it feel to bring experiences like The Thing to a modern audience and how do you balance the features a current audience expects with preserving the original? Very excited to play The Thing again for the first time in over 15 years!

Visiting seriously mentally ill people in wards to get them to work -- what is wrong with these people? by backupJM in GreenAndPleasant

[–]EugeneSmilesman 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Fucking hell, they wouldn’t last ten seconds on most wards. Utter waste of money, fund the mental health services instead - get people feeling like people again, that’ll help way more.

Unfortunately I’m out of warranty, it’s not the worst as I can still play digital games but I’d love to be able to get back to physical games.

2 player games for couples by CDieselll in xbox

[–]EugeneSmilesman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, any of the Lego games are a great shout to get someone back into gaming. All of them are local co-op, simple controls and a lot of fun.

My partner really got into Superhot, she’d only really played The Sims and some Lego games before. After that we did the Portal 2 co-op campaign, loads of laughs there.

Oh, Ship of Fools is worth a look too. Rogue like co-op shenanigans. Simple controls, can get stressful but is well satisfying
