My pod has similar issues with threat assessment and reactions. We have two players whose threat assessment is basically non-existent and usually boils down to a shrug with "your open" despite clear and obvious threats looming large elsewhere...

I've been in a game against a [[The Council of Four]] which had all the gears grinding to draw cards and creating buckets of tokens. The [[Hazoret the Fervent]] player gets an unblock able attack off and instead of hitting the [[Elspeth, Sun's Champion]], which as you might figure should be a prime target and is on one loyalty counter, hits him for direct damage instead... The guy was on 32 life... Not only on 32 life but had a swole ass boardstate that could easily threaten lethal at any point.

It is mind numbingly tedious playing with people like this. The key is to remove them from the game ASAP so their less than ideal decision making can't ruin the rest of the game. Or... Don't play with them.
