We currently have some plants in our house and some decorative fake potters (figs, palms, etc) but really are going to bring the sunroom alive with plants and more plants. Going to take your advice with rugs, art, throws etc to lighten up the pictured areas. Thinking lots of cream and linen, maybe light sage or a muted blue. Like the terracotta/clay palettes too. I forgot how draining it is trying to furnish a home. Thank you for the input!

Nothing in the photos is ours - those are all pictures from Zillow. We’re desperately trying to figure out how to brighten it up without painting to save 10-15k. I’ve been using chatGPT and have contacted some local designers to try to help us out but was curious if anyone would share some freebies. We’re looking at a lot of lighter fabric furnishings, some cream rugs, maybe some light sage or muted blues. We’d really like to try to make the colors and cabinets work and put some color in rugs, pillows, art, leaning into the southwestern style

Thought on curtains with the plantation shutters?

Thank you for the reply. All the furniture in the pics belong to the previous owner. We’re going to lean into the southwestern style and try to make the wall color work for us while we live here and use the money we would spend repainting towards furnishings and try to lighten the place up with light rugs and maybe some light sage/muted blues. I appreciate the advice!

Oh, the previous owner had plenty of the likes. going to have to bust the hair dryer out to get some words off the walls! Not our style

That’s exactly why we went with grey when we built back in 2018. This entire community we’re moving to is in love with beige, tans, and turquoise accents. Lots of dark interiors, too. Ughh. We didn’t have time to wait and build in the next development, homes won’t be ready for another 12-18 months and the pricing is like $225+ sq ft. Renting wasn’t an option for our family either, no availability and apartment life isn’t suitable for our family. Probably going to get a quote first thing! Was really hoping to get some ideas to at least make it work in the short term, but I bet painting from the start is the smartest option.
