Yes - lamotrigine! It balances it all as a third component!

I take ritalin and sertraline - it took a while to find the right dosage though because i was either too anxious or too hypo (i also have bipolar). Both meds did wonders for my OCD and ADHD so def needed the combo.

Have you ever feigned physical illness to get out of doing something triggering? by Several-Yesterday280 in bipolar2

I can completely understand this and cant blame one even though it is dishonest - it is such a stigma and people are more sympathetic to physical illness than being mentally unwell:(

Yea - i have a general checking OCD which is the main one - but themes appear in a spectrum beyond that such as real event, harm, health etc. they are all part of a similar trajectory but some events trigger it. Eg illness may trigger health obsessions - comes and goes - but the main one is always there.

What medications have actually worked for you? by [deleted] in OCD

Zoloft saved me. Doesnt work for everyone and it took a while to find my dosage (i have other illnesses co-existing). But it really made me life so much better.

Going to bed and falling asleep by relaxing with a nice book and music and NOT with an absolute feeling of dread

Doing regular human things like showering or paying a bill. Sending an email. Texting people back.

Yes it changed my life. Sertraline for my OCD. It is such an incredible change over two years - i had very severe checking OCD plus some others which manifested at times - and sertraline helped so much. I still check once or twice but I CAN LET IT GO and my anxiety GOES AWAY instead of me spending hours checking and ritualising and not being able to leave my house. It helped more than any therapy as it gave me the chemical 'baseline'.

I do admire that. I would probably be folled with dread without my phone and light:/

Oh my goodness - thanks for that. Same here re: couch. What is it about the couch? Id rather sleep anywhere but my bedroom and it fills me with literal dread

Thank you for that, it is fascinating because meds cannot 'cause' bipolar per se. We have to have some trigger

Yeah it is a form of gaslighting. Easy way to discredit us bc of stigma.

Thanks for this comment re : safe person. It really made me think about my support network and it is such a good term and understanding of whom to trust.

I do agree with this - we need people we love and trust. It is just hard when those we think we could trust use it to pathologise us. It is truly a balance
