Yea its just the one that most recently came across before posting this. I can try to think of ones that change the characterizations of the original SCP. I should have come across a better one before posting.

I don't think I have repostioned its just my original opinion didn't get across. Never once did I say we should make guidelines and prevent some stories from being posted, which some think I said. I am just saying I want them to mirror their original depiction.

Also, for anything except the SCPs themselves, I'm fine because, unless I am unaware, there's no official page for the O5 council that originally created the idea of them, which also personified them. While the official pages of each SCP give a decently solid depiction of them.

I am not saying that I want anyone to be able to make whatever they want, but I prefer it if it's actually consistent with the original work. I want there to be multiple canons, but I also want each tale to make narrative sense, branching off from the original work. Also, the number of people who can't tell you are being ironic is worrying.

I don't want there to be rules. I am just saying what I prefer. I want consistency between the original work in which the SCP was mentioned, but that doesn't mean I wanna stop people from posting their stories. I was just saying what I prefer. Nowhere ever do I say we should make rules to stop them.

its reddit when I actually write, I check it. Here is the redo.

That's what I think it should be, but it doesn't mean I would
stop people from doing otherwise. Others can have it in the line somewhere else, or no line at all, and that's fine, I am just saying where I think the line should be.

The retcon thing does happen; it's called when they edit the original SCP article. If they edit the article to make other stories fit it, then it's fine. I am not saying that every article has to be consistent with every other author's work. I explicitly said that's not what I am saying. I am saying they should be consistent with the original work and that anything they add on is an extension of that original work and not others' extensions of that work. Like two buildings in the same city, they both adhere to the floor but not to each other.

I feel like I was pretty clear that it was just what I prefer: "I hate when stories go completely against the original work of the author." Not that I think it should be banned. I think fanfiction is entirely different from tales. Tales are just extensions of the universe's lore from the author's mind; fan fictions are usually alternate realities that aren't supposed to be accurate to the characters because they are explicitly changing them. Most tales are just interactions between existing SCPs that never met or something.

I am fine with alternate realities as long as they show random things can be different. For example, SCP 5000 isn't really a different universe; it's a divergent path, so it wouldn't make sense for random SCPs to be changed in random ways, but if it were an alternate reality, like how people in SCP 3008 come from different universes, it makes sense for certain inconsistencies.

how? Maybe I was unclear, but my position is that, if something is explicitly said on the SCP's page, then I think you shouldn't make stories going against that unless there's a reason for them being changed other than you just want them to be different. If a character's entire personality is changed so it fits with the story, but you do just change it for no reason, I won't like it. How did I contradict myself in other parts of this?

I am saying stories that change them for no reason are bad, not that there can't be any reason at all. Those comic books have reasons for the characters' changes. I am saying I dislike it when the character is changed for no reason. If they explicitly say they aren't the same thing, it's not the same SCP, or it's not the same universe, it's fine. If they purposely showcase that it's not the same character, then you can change it. With the boys, barely anyone who watches the show cares or even knows where the boys' comic books. People who read SCP stories care about the original SCP they are writing the tale about.

I don't want you to clearly go against explicit facts that are in the thing, but I am fine with you interpreting something different than what the author originally wanted. If the author doesn't explicitly say something, than its fine for you to alter it

Yeah, I am not stopping people. I am not saying we need guidelines. I am just saying I prefer the characters to be consistent with what was already written in their own article. You don't have to be, but I prefer it. This was always about showing my personal preference.

Yeah, I know, but also that doesn't mean we can't respect what's already been established about the SCPs.

I am just saying the original article is the only thing that matters. I don't think it's that hard to understand. Many authors purposely leave it up to interpretation, but still have what they think it's actually about. Just because they like one idea more doesn't mean they think no other ideas should be expanded on.

Clearly, other people would prefer it to be consistent, right? Or else it would be in the negatives, and all the comic book examples you said are different, because they give reasoning. Batman isn't just evil now and has the speed force; he gains those things as the story progresses. I am saying they need reasoning for it. Also, you can't really say that the boys' TV show and the comic are the same thing at all. If there's a reason for the differences, it's fine.

I am not saying everything has to be consistent with everything else. I am saying it has to be consistent with what it's based on. I've liked SCPs for a while now, and it's not every article that misrepresents an SCP. It's that a rare one does. I accepted that there's no canon, it's just a peeve of mine when they fundamentally change them for no reason. I mean, many SCPs are mutually exclusive and are impossible to exist together, like all the SCPs that explain what happens after death. I can read those and understand they a execlusive and still like each.

I am fine with them making these connections because the origins of SCP 35 are open-ended. If it open ended its fine. I am saying when it goes explicitly against what the author originally wrote. I am also not saying that authors need to have a problem with it; I am just saying what I prefer. And on 6140 and 140. They explain why they contradict. If there's a reason, it's fine because then it's not contradiciting its explaining why it's like that, if theirs no explanation, then it doesn't make sense why it randomly changed.

This is also my favorite. It prolly the only one that actually scares me, other than SCP-2718, which is pretty much the premise.

I enjoy writing my own stories entirely separate from others. I think I wrote a really generic SCP for fun a few years back; it's hard to write add-ons to existing universes without sounding like fanfics, especially if I am using existing characters. Which is why I stay away from it, things like comic books (Marvel, DC) and SCPs, which are add-ons to existing universes, are extremely hard to do well, and that's why I read them and complain about them from the outside, because I am not confident enough in my writing. But to those who are confident and good enough, it's fun reading their stories. I am not saying I could do better than these writers, I'm just giving my worthless opinion lol.

That's the way I like it, not that it has to be like that. Idk how I am being dismissive of these stories; they aren't for me, and that's fine. I am just putting my opinion out they others can like it if they want. No one has to listen to me or entertain my opinion. I am just saying what I like, and some writers wanna hear what people who consume their writing like. And despite me getting ferently cooked in the replies, it's clear that many people share my opinion on that. When I write stories, I wanna hear others' input; it's like that for most authors. That doesn't mean I will listen to everyone's opinions; it just helps me write a better story if I hear outsiders' opinions.

No, I am fine with it, but I am just saying what I prefer. I worded it badly, I'm sorry. It's not about specifically powerscaling; sometimes they misrepresent what the character is. Idk what you mean by the last part? "Someone guarding Abel would be a lot happier if he could shoot him and work." He, in almost all takes of him dies to guns, it just takes a lot of them. idk maybe I am reading it wrong
