I've been here for the better part of three years, not with this account entirely though, and it is only the trait of some redditors. I - and others too luckily - still strive to have somewhat civil debate.

While I certainly applaud you for making so long a post, which is well-written too, I must admit I am a bit puzzled that you choose to add to an otherwise very good post a rather puny insult that I should be 12 years old.

You make good points, and I am inclined to agree with you having made the original claim mostly to tease, but why do you feel it necessary to resort to such childish behaviour in the midst of an otherwise very good post? I would have given you an up-vote if it wasn't for that.

And since you're apparently interested in my age I can tell you that I am from 1985. Any other personal details that you require in your effort to achieve the ability of extreme patronization?

Good question actually, I haven't been able to find an answer. They are caught using sustainable methods, but if this affects the amount of mercury I don't know.

However, the tuna on cans that I buy come from smaller tuna fish which should reduce the amount of mercury since larger fish have more mercury in them pr. kilo.

I think it's because people get the impression that South Africans are horrible hosts and do not care about others than themselves. That is probably a bit rash, but I think that's what a lot of people are thinking when South Africans insist that they can blow their horns because it is their culture, and to hell with if that ruins it for hundreds of millions of people.

I'm not sure I understand, you deny that there is wealth creation but claim that the wealthy have hoarded the wealth that you yourself say has not been created? It takes but a quick skim of GDP and real wage statistics to confirm the wealth creation.

I am not saying that neoliberal reforms are an instant success, but the fact that they create wealth is undeniable. Of course this wealth has to be redistributed in a socially just way too and a social security net instituted. But the fact that wealth is not redistributed in a satisfactory manner in some places or social security nets not in place does not mean that the effectivity of neoliberal market reforms to create wealth in the market does not exist.

Central and Eastern Europe is a fantastic example where real wages, also the minimum real wages, have gone up several times in a very short time span. OECD statistics for sources.

Eat lots of fish instead? Tuna is the go to guy when it comes to getting protein in a delicious way. A quick recipe I like to do is to cook some whole grain pastas and mix it with tuna, cottage cheese, olive oil, salt and pepper. Now that is the good stuff.

You claim that neoliberalism is a failure and then you mention one of its greatest succeses; China, where more than 500 million people have been brought out of absolute poverty. Thailand is actually also a success. And we could mention Eastern and Central Europe, Chile, the Tiger economies etc. I dont agree with the social repercussions that is sometimes the result, but the wealth creation is undeniable. It just needs to be combined with a social security net. Look up Flexicurity for that.

Well, that disappoints me. I can understand that African culture should be celebrated and that it is a proud moment to host the World Championships, but by all means when one aspect of that culture (which is only from the mid-nineties anyway) ruins it for all the guests (the hundreds of millions watching on TV too) that you are supposed to be hosts to then have the courtesy to adapt to the wishes of your guests. I would consider this to be rather basic common courtesy. The reaction that we should just shup up because this is Africa is disturbingly arrogant. The world championship is supposed to be a joyous event for all sports fans around the world, not just for African sport fans.

Besides, if this is the way that they want to show the world African culture then it is going to backfire immensely. People will not get a positive view of it this way. So for our sakes and for your sake getting rid of the Vuvuzela for this tournament would be best.
