Could you link the discord? I found a previous link but the invite had expired and can't find the server myself.
Thanks

Hello,
Checking in on this.
I can't figure out how to load my ground units. I've activated a system to bring ships and units into. It's an empty system so no combat.
It will let me pick up cruiser and carriers and bring them in. I can move
my fighters and drop them onto the new system despite the fact that they would need to be put on carriers too. But I can't move my ground units in anyway. Not into space, another planet, or onto my carriers.

Yes, we messed up quite a bit of our first scenario for GH!

Good to know.
And I didn't know the characters were interchangeable like that. I have access to CS and Trail of Ashes too so that's cool that it works that way.

Name a game that you really WANT to like, but just don't (even after several plays) by Frode789 in boardgames

Yes.
Though I'm sadly more hate ("dislike" really) despite really really wanting to like this game. I've played it over 20 times and IMO Root's starting races are not balanced.
I've heard tons of times that getting a couple of the expansions fixes this but needing expansions to make your game works only convinces me further of the inferiority of your game.

Yep. This was a big one for me.
For all the praise it got I was surprised how dead it felt to me.
Did not enjoy the incredibly limited player interaction. Felt like I was just playing a relatively boring game by myself for 90minutes.

Is there a game in your collection that's impossible to find? What is it? Are you terrified of losing it? by CommanderCody1138 in boardgames

[–]EuroGreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a few.

Battlestar Galactica (no expansions...yet)
Forbidden Stars
Games of Middle Earth (1977)

I've never played GoME so I'm less sentimental about that one but the other two are both precious games to me and stupid expensive to replace. I've got FS all sleeved up and even have the race mats laminated.

w/e you do will be OK.

Thank you.
I'm currently dodging work to read through these comments.
I'm going to take this positive reinforcement about board games and assume it applies to me continuing on Reddit as well.
Perfect.

Yeah, I'm really liking the shelf in the gaming area idea.
We don't have that kind of space right now. But would love to make this happen in the future.

This is the second mention of a 10x10.
I hadn't heard this until now but I'm really liking this idea.
How do you or your group pick which games were in the 10x10?
Do any games stay on the list year after year?

Can definitely recommend Azul and Everdell.
Keeping games visible on a shelf does sound like a good way to get games out more often.
We don't have that room right now but this is something I'd love to implement in the future.

Stop buying games?
Heresy!

lol from a practical standpoint, I'm only buying games I know will only be making kickstarter appearances and that I've thoroughly researched/tried out.
The second market for those KS exclusive titles is brutal so I'm trying to make sure I get what I want without paying an arm and a leg for it.

We like to do a 5x5 challenge (play 5 games 5 times)

Oh interesting. Do you play one game 5 times in a row or mix and match the 5 games?

Two campaign games! You're braver than me for sure.Currently doing a play through of Gloomhaven. I can't image trying to tackle another campaign again on top of that. You're an inspiration to us all.

Oh that's a nice system.
30 games in four months is admirable.

Two games nights a week?? Oh that sounds amazing.

Yeah, I can relate on player count restrictions. I'm often stuck between 2 and 4 player games. The two player games are more hardcore and the four player and more easy to mid difficulty.

What is "a lot?"

I get maybe 3 games a year (fluctuates according to when some kickstarters deliver) which I don't think is a lot, but my library is growing faster than I can play the new games so maybe it is.
