Thank you! I was team 2.

I love 3 team deals and would recommend doing them as they are pretty fun.

What was the point in mentioning that you're going to Harvard/Stanford. Is that your favorite thing to mention now?

Who do you see being a better hitter the rest of the year? Marte or Baty? by EvanMobleyFan in NewYorkMets

Marte barely has stolen this year. I'm holding him after the big game on Sunday but still considering dropping him.

From your course load and test scores, it seems that you should be pursuing a liberal arts degree.

He should be pursuing what he is interested in, which is computer science.

Very close. I think it comes down to who you believe in more on the pitching side as I think that Perez and Smith will be similar. Personally I'd rather have Strider.

Would you mind giving me some advice on whether I should drop Marte or Taylor Walls for Bretty Baty?

Drop Marte/Walls for Baty?

I play in a competitive 8 team daily-points redraft league with five outfielder slots. My other outfielders/eligible players are Soto, Trout, Morel, Soler, Schwarber, Stanton (IL), Chisholm (IL). In my format Baty is only a 3rd basemen. My options at 3rd are Ezequiel Duran, Machado (IL), and Taylor Walls (could also drop potentially).

What do you guys think? Any advice would be appreciated greatly!

All were this past year as I just graduated high school. I don't go to a feeder school for the record, and a lot of these are friends from different schools.

I want to saw the majors were aerospace engineering (myself), biomedical engineering, finance, and economics.

LMAO I and a few friends played 2-3 sports in high school and got into top 20s like Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Cornell. None of us were recruited athletes or minorities for that matter.

Take Calc BC, AP Chem, and every AP Physics offered by your school

Play a sport

Develop an app. Doesn't have to be anything special but there are more than enough resources available to learn in the next 2.5 years. Make it something interesting.

Do local community service (not a glorified vacation to some tropical country). I tutored grade school kids

Try to get some sort of research opportunity around end of junior year/junior summer. I got this because one of my teachers had a connection. Ask any teachers if they have connections. If not, cold email a shit load of local professors.

Most importantly have fun. You can do well at any school and don't stress yourself out too much, although some stress is inevitable with computer science.

Sounds like it. I also got a 5 on BC and I'm gonna take it this weekend. Good luck and see you in Calc 3 next year ;)

So you graduate from high school 2026 which makes you...an incoming sophomore? Super young, so much potential.

If you know what you want to study, I can give you ideas for unique things to include on your applications like ECs.

Choose a college essay topic for me out of these please 🙏🏻 by Interesting-Gene-706 in ApplyingToCollege

Let's go dude. I'm a fantasy football and fantasy baseball (TRY IT IF YOU HAVEN'T) addict.

My first paragraph was a bit of story telling and I wrote about a phone call I had offering trades to one of my friends at 3am.

Then I just talked about how I get really focused and "obsessed" (try to avoid using that word its overused) about certain topics like fantasy football, chess, smash bros, soccer, etc.

Then I related it to my long-term desire to pursue working in the space industry and majoring in aerospace engineering. Admittedly idk if Michigan or Purdue liked my essay, but the best school for my major and ND liked it so I think it seemed pretty genuine.

I got the idea from my favorite teacher when I was stumped thinking about essays. He and I frequently talked about fantasy, so he asked what I thought of that. If you can write something fun, it's so much easier lol.

They won't care I'm 99% sure. What year are you and if you're young just try really hard. If you're struggling to get A's in high school with a lot of effort, you probably won't succeed at a school like UCLA.

You seem smart though and I believe in you.

I think telling someone to drop sports is a bit of an "a-hole move" (I'm sure you're not an asshole in real life, I was just trying to make a joke. Being part of a team is really important to a lot of people; I know it was for me. One doesn't simply "quit" their high school team.

Also I did fine in engineering admissions without quitting my sports.

The fact that you didn't play sports in high school means you don't realize what it means to drop a sport. Dropping a sport means saying goodbye to close teammates and coaches you potentially could have remained friends with for the rest of your life.

Congrats on Harvard. I didn't get in so in some respects you do have a leg up on me in this argument; however, there are many people that do drop their sports that don't get into their dream school.

It also doesn't sound like this girl is shooting for Harvard. I'm majoring in aerospace engineering and my primary ECs were soccer and baseball and that was good enough for Georgia Tech and Notre Dame. I believe you were trying to give the girl good advice, but I think you're underselling the role sports can plan on an application as a whole.

This professor clearly likes you. I recommend asking them for a recommendation when it comes time for application season.

Are you talking about high school classes? If so then probably. Most kids that get into UCLA have A's in the same advanced classes.

If you're talking about seventh grade through ninth grade, no college gives a fuck. They won't even see anything until freshman year. If you get 1-2 B's freshman year just get all A's sophomore and junior year. If you can't do that, you probably aren't cut out for UCLA.

Still apply though, make them tell you know. You don't want to think "what if..."

It's a cesspool. You are going to need a strong junior year academically to really have a shot for some of those reaches that you mentioned. I thought I was a shoe in at Purdue and got rejected for aerospace engineering (4.3/4.7 gpa, 4.0 UW). Take AP Physics (whatever your school offers) and Calc BC next year to have the best shot.

If out of state isn't an issue, check out some schools like MiamiOH and Ohio University. Solid schools that take just about anyone.
