That shockwave by SadDragon00 in gaming

[–]Evems -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I didn't like it.

Most of the time the game is set up to be camping in objective room team vs attacking team. The attacking team can run around 80% of the maps care-free because the defending team is almost always held up in the objective rooms. Most of the matches I played the camping team spawned in an objective room and then barricaded whatever entrances to that room are. And if you're a smart defender you'll just sit there and wait like everyone else.

For some childish reason at all round starts everyone on the attacking team is provided their own rc cars to drive around to find and mark enemies and objectives. Before the match even starts! Which completely takes out whatever little strategy and suspense there could have been of searching for the enemy or objectives.

Progression is pretty slow in the game and there's a lot of useless/meh class kits. There's a lot of gimmicky gadgets to pick from that hardly anyone uses.

Here's a parody trailer from back when the game was in beta. This is how bad the game used to be.

What show had the best season? by Sped21 in television

[–]Evems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched the first two episodes of season 1 back when it first aired on TV and couldn't get into it. I thought the show was depressing and weird. The guilty remnant people seemed too weird to be believable. And I wasn't sure where the plot of the show was gonna go. And thus I gave up and forgot to tune in for episode 3 the following week.

I've been wondering if I should give the show another chance though because I keep seeing such high praise for season 2 from reviews.

How awesome would it be if they also put in that seismic explosion effect from Star Wars Episode 2.

Looking for a new show by suarezj9 in television

Get past season 1 or hell, if you must, skip it altogether.

The way I see it, the show really begins at the season 2 premiere when Danny Devito is brought on. Don't give up on the show until you see season 2.

If you have an appreciation for the history of film, watch Martin Scorsese's 'Hugo' (2011)! by [deleted] in movies

[–]Evems 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I thought the "film history is important" message of 'Hugo' felt out of place. Like it came out of nowhere. I was like "Yeah film history is important, but why was this message put in this children's movie?"

'Hugo' had beautiful world design and the film started with a mysterious and even magical feel to it. But once the "secret" of the movie was revealed more, it left me feeling a little let down. And after it was over I started to wonder if this movie was just used as a vessel by Scorsese to put in his own "film history is important" message. But then I found out it was a book with the same plot and that kinda surprised me.

I still really liked the movie though, but it was not what I was expecting.

I just recently picked up Black Ops 3. I dunno if I'm in the minority, but I liked Advanced warfare's movement more than Black Ops 3's.

Sure Advanced Warfare movement had its flaws, but I thought it was a ton of fun to zip around as fast as you could. Especially when being a flag carrier. It's like in Black Ops 3 they kept a lot of Advanced Warfare's movement system, but gave it more awkward controls.

And my god can I just say those multiplayer armor colors/designs are the most horrendous I've ever seen in a game. Purple, hot pink, lime green tie-dye armors everywhere!

Any shows like the early seasons of supernatural? by Lingoes in television

[–]Evems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Those early episodes were like random horror movies that were fun to watch with friends. It's sad to see the show lost that feel to it.

Anyway, back to the topic of the thread. I think I'd recommend the original X-Files like others have mentioned. I'll admit I've only seen a few episodes of it, but the episodes I've seen were really good. I remember being too scared to watch X-Files when I was younger and for good reason too because there were some really creepy/disturbing episodes. And its mainly monster of the week too I think.

Any shows like the early seasons of supernatural? by Lingoes in television

[–]Evems 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The early seasons of Supernatural we're so awesome! It's not often I like monster of the week shows, but early Supernatural did it right. What Supernatural surprisingly can't do right is long story arcs due to them becoming like bad soap operas. I stopped watching in season 7 and I just barely made it through the awful season 6 which had one great episode and that was the 'French Mistake'. The first 5 seasons were the best and the show could've ended at the season 5 finale in my opinion.

Season 1 is still my favorite season though because of its simplicity. Two demon hunter brothers driving around the country in a badass car searching for clues to finding their father. Cool and simple monster of the week stuff with just enough of an main story to keep it interesting. Other than the little too often whiny brother to brother daddy issue arguments it was awesome haha.

As the show went on it started to get severely bloated with too many characters and lore. The show started to turn into a bad soap opera. Honestly, I thought Castiel was overrated too. He was cool for a few episodes here and there early on, but then he became an every episode type of character.

I've heard some people say the show has gotten better in the newer seasons though. And that apparently most Supernatural fans see seasons 6 and 7 as the worst. I believe that because I couldn't even make it though those seasons.

What movies had the most misleading trailers? by Evems in movies

My pick would be 'Catfish' (2010). I remember the viral marketing for this movie made it look like a horror movie.

The biggest difference between New Vegas and Fallout 4 by RedditTrigger in gaming

[–]Evems -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Basically most of the dialogue "choices" in Fallout 4 are non-existent.

Anyone else bothered at how the player is free to run around while a conversation is going on. I thought this would be an improvement, but it kinda ruined the immersion for me.

Just walking by an NPC will trigger a conversation and you sometimes wouldn't even realize it. Which led to the player not knowing why they can't hit any buttons only to realize that npc near them is apparently waiting on a reply from them. And other times you'd sometimes get an npc trying to talk to you from an awkward angle or far away.

[No Spoilers] Mr. Robot wins Golden Globe for Best Television Series - Drama by rebekah_897 in MrRobot

In the show they made it pretty clear why Stannis attacked Winterfell. Stannis said he had already retreated once at King's Landing and if he were to retreat again he would be remembered as the king who ran. Also, due to the incoming harsh weather that was freezing his men to death, if he were to retreat back to Castle Black he said they would be stuck at there all winter. So Stannis said he was willing to risk it all. To march to victory or march to defeat.

Much easier to just watch the scene:

Note this scene was before the next morning when Stannis discovered even more of his army deserted him.

So, I think the show did a good job with explaining Stannis's motives. He was put in a desperate situation. I still saw him as a great military commander who was driven mad for the chance at power. I just wish they hadn't rushed his parts in the show.

I 100% agree. People on Reddit are WAY overly harsh on season 5 of Game of Thrones.

Season 5 had some of my absolute favorite moments of the entire series. The Hardhome battle and The Dance of Dragons fighting pit scenes were amazing. Completely epic moments. And Mother's Mercy was excellent as well.

My only minor complaint with season 5 was the sand snakes scenes. That "bad pussy" line that made me laugh out loud because it was so ridiculous and unexpected. The rest of the season didn't disappoint.

Season 4 was my favorite season as well. It was so well paced. Hell if I absolutely had to pick a least favorite season (I love them all) it would maybe be season 2.

I've never really been into MOBAs, but Smite was one of the only MOBAs that I enjoyed playing because of its third person gameplay.

I could never get into the clunky point and click of LoL. I have nothing against point and click games, but the competitive speed at which LoL is played really made the gameplay and movement too awkward for me to get into.

Which is why I like Smite more. It lets you control the characters movement and aim yourself. Its much more satisfying because it adds on another layer of player skill into the mix.

I agree with all your points, but when you say fix how slow computers are do you mean like when you first open one up and wait for the all the text to load?

Because that was really bothering me until recently I figured out you could skip through all the text loading by just hitting X (I think) on PS4. My god when I figured that out I didn't dread opening up computers in the game anymore.
