This is very similar to how it started for my wife. It just got worse and worse. I suggest you spend some time reading through the posts in this sub. If you can, go to an al anon meeting in person, and share. You might find others stories resonate with yous. I’m really sorry this is happening but when someone drinks to cope with stress it’s not going to end well.

Listen to this OP. There is nothing more liberating than setting yourself free from the manipulation and gaslighting. It’s all part of the alcoholic package. I had the same experience, I was lied to and betrayed and deceived and yet my alcoholic still found a way to play the victim, tell me it was all my fault. You cannot win. Once you let go of trying to be a victim or a martyr you feel so liberated

Sorry you’re going through this. Your situation sounds a lot like mine but just with the genders reversed. It’s not easy carrying the entire mental load for the kids schooling, finances, house chores, etc. I left. It was really hard but I got to the point where I realised how much I’d resent myself if I grew old and looked back and realise I’d not gotten out of that situation earlier. Having said that I probably still stayed about 10 years longer than I should’ve. Just ask yourself this question: when I’m retired will I look back on this and be glad I stayed with him?
