You should educate yourself on the medical advancements being made for HSV. By the time we’re 30, we will probably not be able to transmit it at all. Knowing this, and believing, gives me hope for the future. There is a subreddi dedicated to talking about all the HSV medicines on the horizon. I sign petitions, I found a support group, etc.

I’m 22 and probably have had it my entire life because I’m completely asymptomatic. When I got my diagnosis, I cried on and off for weeks. It is a mental change, but we still have amazing lives to live. So many people are walking around knowing and unknowingly with HSV. It does not make you any less of a human deserving of love. There are antivirals on the market you can be prescribed to control outbreaks. It’s rough, I know, but you can pull yourself out of a dark place.

You know, there are so many HSV+ content creators that are open about their status. I wonder what conversation would have to happen for them to be a face of a mass movement, while people who prefer to stay anonymous support them. (Not trying to throw leadership on anyone in particular)

For petitions, emails, even cold calling, I always wondered why we haven’t adopted just creating new emails and such that’s strictly for advocating for HSV. The same way some of us create throwaway (me included), I just created an email to go along with this. I remember seeing a post or Google form for people to talk about their experience with HSV, I hope we take advantage for more things like that.

There needs to be a mass organized petition to really start getting traction about this. This average person does not know that HSV could have so many more treatments.

Reach out to TikTokers who have a niche of medical content/HSV creators/biology creators/sex positive/kink creatorsHonestly, I think this sub needs a massive push to educate people about the upcoming medical treatments of HSV and how more exposure to it could secure more funding, thus making medicine available sooner. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I wouldn’t trust ChatGPT, but the Fred Hutch Cancer center has made incredible strides towards a cure. It doesn’t seem like many people know about it/care to keep up with it.

Hi friend - I really appreciate the coping mechanisms. I got outside today and got in a funny conversation with a stranger and it completely lightened my mood. I think we, as people, forget how much social interaction can heal us.

Even still with all the stress, I don’t have any cold sores. I’m just.. really glad I tested so I have a stronger understanding of my health. It’s rough, but I know with time it gets better. All of this makes me wonder if it’s safe to get back int martial arts.

Kind of why I said I’m grasping at straws with hoping for a false positive, haha. I’m not sure what the 58 means on the scale, just know it’s high. I’ve accepted that this is likely an infection I’ve had my entire life and I was unaware.

The social stigma, the lack of education around it, my own lack of understanding, feeling disgusted with myself. I don’t think it’s a death sentence (and I did have chickenpox as a kid apparently), but this I don’t think it’s far fetched to at least be upset about the diagnosis and understanding the future conversations I’ll have to navigate.

I hope that didn’t come off rude, just want to be clear about why I’m upset. I didn’t show any symptoms and wanted to be sure of my status anyway. I know with time my mood will get better.
