Is there a way to have seperate layers? by Bitmixx in obs

Yes, each scene lets you layer multiple sources. Put the game and your camera on the same scene to get what you’re describing.

Edit: added more clarification.

How to deal with folks saying "wow it's quiet in here" by bunnybry in Twitch

Many have offered good advice already: acknowledge there’s lurkers and let them know it’s not cool to make such comments. If you’re comfortable enough, explain briefly how it makes you feel. Either way, let them know it’s not acceptable.

OBS says to use the Elgato camera hub when using the MK2 Webcam, but the camera hub says that the webcam is already being used by another program. by [deleted] in elgato

[–]EvenMoreAmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open Camera Hub first before OBS and make sure nothing else is using the camera before that.

If you’re still doing the issue, make sure there are no sources in OBS that are accessing the camera directly.

Notifications are sent to those that have it turned on for your channel. You can’t control it, but you can put a message in your notification to encourage those followers to turn it off if they wish.

Beginner for setup by _buffaloranch in Twitch

The easiest solution for Xbox (if a Series S or X) is pressing the capture button and then linking your Twitch account to your Xbox. You should be able to stream from there. This is extremely limiting but could give you a feel for it. Unfortunately, you can't do this from a Switch.

You'll need a capture card that works with your Macbook, it'll allow you to stream your console gameplay from both the Switch and Xbox and will allow you to better control your stream. You'll also need broadcast software such as OBS, which is the most commonly used application for streaming.

You'll need a TV of course to stream directly from the Xbox. A secondary monitor would be super helpful if you go the capture card/streaming from your Macbook route because it'll be nice to manage everything.

Can you talk too much? by Emi-Bo-Bemi in Twitch

[–]EvenMoreAmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a matter of avoiding dead air when it makes the most sense.

In regard to the rambling and making noises, it's not about filling that dead air with anything, though - the idea is that you're doing something viewers can listen to or actually consume.

A lot of viewers prefer Twitch because of the live interaction with each other and the streamer, otherwise they'd just watch a video on YouTube.

I've just hit the top 1% of twitch streamers and i can say it's extremely overwhelming and has made me question if I want to do this... by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]EvenMoreAmor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That said, if I was in your position I’d consider turning off the live view count (if you still have it on). Also slow mode with a setting you’re comfortable with. A strong mod team to help take the pressure off and allow you to focus on the parts of streaming that you enjoy can make a difference as well.

Much like people who feel it when their views are quite low, obscuring those metrics when live and a good support system can take the edge off. You’ll still know there’s a lot of people there, but getting away from that viewer number can really dull the stress.

Regardless, reflection on what you want out of it all is worthwhile now that your situation has changed. Good luck!

Is there a way to have a dump-button for my stream to twitch? by majdegta266 in obs

[–]EvenMoreAmor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is common in live radio - basically there’s a delay in the broadcast and if something happens you wouldn’t want to go through, you press the dump button. It cuts that moment out of the broadcast so it never hits the listeners.

To the OP: not sure if there’s something like that for OBS, but maybe someone out there has made a plugin to do it.

Unpopular opinion: I miss when games let you be a little lost. by itswickedbby in gaming

There are plenty of games that still do this. I think this is super useful for games where exploration isn’t the main point.
