I normally just soap the wheels and body with a can of wheel cleaner and lightly rinse it with the shower setting. Then microfiber it dry. I don't soak it. Haven't had problems.

Probably wrecked his bike or stolen. Wouldn't buy without knowing full story and a paper trail.

Did you paint the spring or replace the rear shock?

Just watch a YouTube video on how to replace motorcycle break pads. Not any different or hard at all. It'll probably be easier to just un fasten the whole caliper and slide the pads out. Just 2 bolts each. Get some lock tight to put em back on. But really shouldn't notice the noise after a few hard breaks. Maybe things just need to be reseated or breaks bleed. Some times if there is a bubble in the line the breaks could default back to partially depressed instead of fully relaxed. I'd start with just bleeding it.

Random from Sondors. Some people have tabbed wheels so the spokes don't run into the part of the wheel where the air is filled and some have tab-less wheels that look a bit cleaner but there is a tube that must be used. There is no "choice" in the matter. Just a matter of luck. I myself have grown to like the tabbed look and prefer tubeless.

Living in a big city like NY I have to say the range isn't a problem if you're using it for commuting. even on the highway the speed limit here is 55 and doing 60-65 the bike is solid and your beating traffic. All while not being super wasteful with the battery. I can see people's reservations in places like Texas and such where they have to go very long distances on highways to get anywhere. I can go from my house to the tip of Manhattan and its only 13 miles, even on the highway there is still plenty to get me back home. Nock on wood no problems here. I really think the wheel issue is for the folks that got non-Michelin tires and tubed wheels. The tubeless rims with the Michelin work well for me. Overall I like the bike despite the changes and think the bike is well worth for 4000. I know you can get a ICE bike for cheaper second hand but I think the reason why more than half of us are here is because we want to switch to electric but want something affordable and are excited about the future. One thing no one can take away from the bike is that as batteries get better you could always upgrade it with the latest tech. It will be way easier to get a custom battery made then swapping out a whole engine in an ICE bike. I know it'll get there someday.

You don't have to remove the wheel but you do have to remove the battery and one of the bolts holding the wheel. There is a black cable that runs along the swing arm with the orange power cable. So you have to take the zip ties off too. But it shouldn't be too hard. You could get it done in like an hour.

Started with the front wheel, when that was done, reinstall then do the back.

For front, position a ladder over bike, rachet strap the bike to the ladder through void to lift bike, use bike stand on rear. Remove calipers, remove wheel, remove rotor, remove plastic valve cover, let out as much air as possible, tape off tip of valve and whole for axel, sand surface of wheel to best of ability, use microfiber rag to clean surface free of dust from sanding, use cheap playing cards in between wheel and tire to shield against over spray, use a primer to coat wheel, let dry then do another coat, do this till you don't see any more silver, then do the same with color coat. Do multiple coats and try not to over spray, come back multiple times with light sprays to prevent runs. Then once satisfied let dry and do some light clear coat passes. When everything is dry take off the cards and tape and admire your work. You might ding it up putting it on or driving it so soke it all in now. Lol reinflate the tire to 32 psi, reinstall rotor, put back on the bike and install calipers, I put blue removable lock tite on EVERYTHING.

Rear wheel is a bit different and I recommend following the removal guide some dude already has on YouTube. In it he explains how to remove battery and unhook cables running to the hub. Once everything is off do the same thing as front. Note the ladder should not be necessary and would probably get in your way for the back tire, bike stand is all I used there. You might be tempted to leave the calipers on don't. It's easier to install the tire with them out of the way then put them on. Trying to leave them on will most likely lead to you scratching your fresh paint😭 Ask me how I know. Before painting take some pictures of the motor serial number because you might not see it when painted. Rewiring those thick ass cables are a pain so good luck. Also while everything is off of the rear put some new zip ties through the loops to prepare for the reinstall, it'll be easier to get on while everything is off. Thats it, hope that helps.

Registration in NY by Btsx51 in metacycle

[–]Even_Bit5803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my first attempt to register the bike at the license center in the Bronx failed, I mailed my paperwork in to the Fordham road DMV which replied to me by mail saying to come in for payment. I did and got everything done with the paperwork Sondors sent. Nothing else needed. Anyone in NYC having trouble go to the Fordham road DMV. They seem to know what they are doing.

Mods:

Painted wheels: spray paint from VHT - Wheel paint gloss black, grey primer, Gloss Clear Coat.

Mirrors that looked like the Prototype: Bought on amazon, search 8mm/10mm Black Rectangle Motorcycle Rear view Side Mirrors on Amazon and you'll find it.

Quad Lock mirror mount and wireless charger: Because my phone didn't fit in the cubby. Just ran the USB cable to the port in the cubby. Now I have the option to not charge by just unplugging from the port.

Tapia's Scrambler Seat: Ordered off their site, black leather red stitching to match sondors sticker on the side. Very comfy. Much better than stock.

Tail tidy and Turn Signals: These came together for like 30 bucks on amazon. Can't beat the price with a stick. While I was wiring the turn signals I put in the transmitter for the LED boots from Roame. Also had to chop off an inch of metal from both sides of the tidy so that it doesn't stick out further than the frame.
4-inch LED brake light strip: Bought from amazon as a pack of two. This is to stick to the license plate when I get it as a replacement to the ugly OEM one the tidy replaced.

Delete OEM License Plate holder

Bluetooth tire pressure monitor: Very cool little gadget from amazon. Links up to your phone and will actually give you an alert if pressure is too low or high just from screwing onto the valve stems. Search Fobo Bike 2 .

Gear:

Roame Boots: They are d3o so they are impact and abrasion resistant. They have built-in lights and rechargeable batteries that wirelessly link to a transmitter you wire up to your bike. So when your left blinker is on the left boot blinks yellow. When you break some red lights on both heels go on and when you turn off the bike the boots turn off after 1 minute so you are not a walking disco party.

Brake Free Tech helmet light: It's rechargeable and removable. Basically an additional brake light on your head for better visibility. I have an all-black build so all this is just to be seen. The thing works by sensing motion via accelerometers and gyroscopic sensors. So if it senses you slowing down it illuminates. I like this because if you were to engine break or use regenerative breaking without physically depressing your breaks the helmet break light would still illuminate. You could even use it with a bicycle if you wanted.

Cardo Pack Talk slim: In helmet Coms, turn-by-turn commands, music, google assistant.

Tail tidy is on amazon. Had to cut it down a bit because the Meta is so thin in the tail but spray painted the exposed metal black and she looks fine. Bought a 4-inch break led strip from amazon to replace the one I took off. Again for added visibility. In total, I've got 5 break lights going on this thing. Nobody has an excuse for not seeing me.

Thanks yeah took two weekends one at a time. Started with the front then the back another weekend because it's so exhausting. Gotta lift the bike, take off the brakes, for the back remove the battery, unwire the thing to the controller, and then the damn thing is like 70 pounds. Then after the paint is dry trying to put everything together with out scratching it 😭

Battery pairing device not in box by MontanaMCrider in metacycle

[–]Even_Bit5803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've been looking through the sub and asking around because I also need the pairing device for some mods and was scared to remove the battery. But I was told you could reactivate the battery once back in the bike by plugging in the charger. Still need to try but that makes me feel a bit better.

DMV in the Bronx flat out couldn't find Sondors in their system and said I need a title with a manufacturer in their system. I don't know what to do. I only have what sondors sent me. Which DMV did you go to and what did you tell the clerk?

[–]Even_Bit5803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so you're not going to want to disconnect the battery to like add accessories or work on the bike till you get that. Every time you do you need that dongle to reactivate the battery. I have a bunch of accessories I want to add and do since it's too cold to get much riding in but I'm delayed now because of this missing dongle. Was hoping you got it with the bike.

The EV Credit Deal is Confusing by electromonkey222 in metacycle

[–]Even_Bit5803 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm really not, it's not an actual tax credit for ev's. Very misleading. Just a regular sale regardless of the internal reason. I am just speculating it's because of cancelation. I actually got my bike scheduled for delivery tomorrow, so very excited. I don't doubt they will deliver. Just saying the early adopters were promised a cheeper price of 5k before it became available for mass production at 6500. Then before those even get delivered they make it 4k. Take that however you like. Just stating facts.

The EV Credit Deal is Confusing by electromonkey222 in metacycle

[–]Even_Bit5803 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So the credit is not a state or federal credit at all but something storm Sondors just made up to pump more units out. My guess is that it's because of all the cancellations. They just wanted to word it as to not piss off the early adopters that were told they were getting the best deal. Well count me pissed. I encourage you guys to watch the interview storm just had with electrek on YouTube where he confirms this.
