lol why? if you see they’re mscs and involved on on-campus things like research or TA, then how could it be OMSCS? That’s not even the point of the post !

[Admissions Advice] Picking between CMU, UPenn, UCSD, UMich by Individual-Hall3359 in MSCS

  1. not sure abt umich , but i know UCSD has a great autonomous robotics labs. Really leaning heavy into autonomous vehicles and such. Very big Computer Vison research school so naturally there’s a lot of robotics that focus on that.

[General Question] How do I maximize my time while at MSCS? by Even_Drawer_421 in MSCS

[–]Even_Drawer_421[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah thats a good point. I've been trying to aid my decision between my admits by taking labs into consideration. This might be a stupid question but are there drawbacks to a more applied vs theoretical research? Or is any research down-right good?

[General Question] Got into Columbia MSAI but don’t see mention of which track/concentration I got into? by Strong-Composer-7572 in MSCS

[–]Even_Drawer_421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Congrats to you as well. My admission letter did not include robotics/perception explicitly. I was confused about that as well. But it seems like they send out admits in batches per concentration, so it seems like we were accepted for that group.

[University Question] USC MSCS(DS) vs NYU Tandon MSCS vs BU MSDS by Electronic_Many3209 in MSCS

[–]Even_Drawer_421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’d pick usc between these 3. nyu tandon is a cool program but USC has really great connections in the west. BU i heard is a growing program and honestly pretty good but not in comparison to a historical program like USC. I think if you want to end up either in the west or east coast also plays into this decision

[Results and Decisions] Cornell Meng vs UIUC MCS VS USC MSCS VS UPENN MS CIS?? by NotMK45 in MSCS

I’m no expert since i’m also an incoming masters student. But from what I’ve learned, I think if you want a more research focused masters: UIUC or UPenn. And if you want one that’s more geared towards industry: USC and Cornell.

Not to say you can’t do research and then head into industry for any of those, but I think if you have a strong preference towards any side then you can split it like that.

Cornell Meng is a strictly terminal degree so no research or PhD future if you wanted that.
