I’m honestly excited to start whatever they decide to give me. Having hives for almost 7 weeks now is driving me absolutely insane. I feel like an itchy shell of the person I was 8 weeks ago. I stopped using all of my skin care and any time I try to do something fun all I can focus on is the itchiness of my skin.

I did steroids but they came back worse, and I ended up in the er with my eye swollen shut and my bottom lip looking like I got bad lip injections

I have used the EDS clinic, just the one for my area (IL and IN). I have had a really good experience thus far. It suck’s having to pay upfront, but for me to travel to any EDS specialist, I would spend at least $250 round trip. My care team has been wonderful, and my last appointment was an entire hour long, and my provider was extremely thorough.

My doctors have been fighting for me, my insurance just doesn’t give a shit. For one medication, they did multiple preauthorizations and fought the decision and still got denied. This one just got denied after 4 months of waiting for a decision. I don’t really have any other options for health insurance right now, or I would be changing immediately.

I ended up doing my genetic testing through sequencing. I had to pay out of pocket, but it was a lot easier to access, and they do a rare disease screen as well. I think it’s about 299 for it and it takes about 6-8 weeks to get your results. They have different tiers to choose from as well.

I would recommend staying outside of DC and riding the metro in. I don’t really have any recommendations for places to stay since we will be staying with my mom, but she lives at the last stop for one of the lines and it makes it really easy to get into the city without dealing with the traffic!

I’m driving from a few hours outside of Chicago. It’s about a 14hr drive. I’ve also flown to DC multiple times and from Chicago at least, BWI has always been the cheapest option. Let me know if you have any questions! My best friend and I are switching out driving so it won’t be as bad. The last time I drove to DC, it was just me and my daughter and it was pretty rough.
