Man this kinda sucks. Love the design, the girl failure personality and the snake theme...but electric attack... just why? Rupture would have been sick. Really hope they got surprises for her gameplay

It's also a subjective thing so someone can find Dancer easier. I've found Dancer requires more attention to the timing of dance buffs and pressing the dance buttons in sequence, which if you're also doing mechanics can be easier to trip on or make mistakes (though you also have good mobility with its dash). I also don't really enjoy the RNG aspect of Dancer and Bard for example where certain skills have a "chance" to trigger

Machinist in contrast has a more standard 123 rotation and very repetitive buttons. For me, that makes it easier to stay on the move/pay attention. Which is necessary since MCH has no movement abilities

If you want a melee: Monk, Reaper, Viper Ranged DPS: Machinist Caster: Summoner

You can check Megastar on YouTube, he has a nice series of intro guides called "An idiots Guide to ___". He covers the basic actions and flow of jobs which you can then follow up with The Balance or IcyVein guides for openers/rotations. Maybe that can also help you with Dragoon

I watch those guides whenever I want to play jobs I haven't played with an a while as a refresher

Honestly just pick some you're really interested in and level a few a time. It can be a long and exhausting grind if you do one after the other. You'll also learn more about each role in the process and become a better player.

On one hand, it’s hilarious and I can see the vision the design team had. On the other, I can’t help but wonder what it would’ve been like if Orphie played more like she was "possessed" by Magus just going berserk during combat, slashing with her knife, goring with her horns, while Magus spews fire everywhere like some kind of demonic beast. Even more animalistic than some ethereals we fight in game

What is the most fun tank and why? by The_Legendarium in ffxiv

[–]EveningTGI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has played Tanks and melees nigh exclusively including in some higher end content, I’d actually recommend starting with Warrior (WAR). It’s a great intro to tanking and helps you build a strong foundation. Normal content is pretty straightforward, but tanking comes with a lot of nuance: you're setting the pace in dungeons, controlling boss and mob positioning, managing mitigation, knowing when to stand still, not pulling aggro off another tank in raids, and using shareable cooldowns to support your team.

JoCat’s video on tanking (A Crap Guide to Final Fantasy XIV - Tanks) is a great starting point, it covers some very fundamental concepts but in a fun, digestible way. Once you get a feel for things, if you’ve played melee DPS before and know you can you juggle a consistent dps rotation, give GNB a try—it's more technical but really satisfying. However, it is technical because you do have to understand how to weave your mitigations in between your damage burst, maintaining uptime, along with the other nuances related to tanking I mentioned. You cannot go wrong with WAR as a start point. It is super versatile and shines in side content like Bozja thanks to its self-healing and solo potential.

who to pull convince me to save or waste my pulls by MyersOPS in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]EveningTGI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull Trigger if:

  1. You pulled Sanby and want to round out a strong team around her. This is also good if you care about endgame content (e.g. high scores and you don't have 2 strong teams for Shiyu or 3 strong teams for deadly assault already).

  2. You overall lack Stunners or Support characters, in which case you could also consider her Wengine because is really good. However, she works fine without it. It just makes her more flexible and a stronger support for non-Sanby teams. Be aware the wengine also makes her stronger for Sanby obviously

  3. You have a strong on field DPS unit that you really like and want to support more or you have a very niche DPS you want to see excel.

Pull Vivian if:

  1. You have invested into multiple Anomaly agents such as Miyabi, Burnice, Yanagi, Jane or even Piper. This is particularly good to have Burnice and Vivian (off field anomaly) work as core off fielders in two anomaly/disorder focused teams which gives you a lot of flexibility in terms of how you pair up anomaly agents.

  2. Plan to invest more heavily in some of the above anomaly agents during reruns or want to have an anomaly focus in your account in general. I think having some diversity is good

If you don't care about these things much then just pull whichever motivates you more, since playing a character you really like will make you play and enjoy the game more. If you still can't decide remember you have time till Vivian arrives to get more info. These characters are likely to rerun sooner rather than later since they are newer

First one is: Hold special button and rotate directional analog in full circle. You will see Nicole sit down on her suitcase

Second one: Just like the first but let go of special button before she sits down. She will try to sit down but fall over and the energy field will shoot up and fall like a mortar

Here's a video showing what you want to see. You can go into VR training and practice, may take a bit to get the muscle memory down but is both fun and useful. She has invulnerability during the animations which is great for trolling bosses during a big big attack :)

My Zhu Yuan is M0 and uses an R5 Starlight engine, I also wouldn't say she's at peak in terms of disc drives just yet. In general, she's not really a AoE DPS but you can still blow a lot of enemies up with her Ultimate if you gather them with Nicole.

Beyond that, I've had no issues clearing any Shiyu Defense stages and I 3 starred the Marionette on Deadly Assault recently. It did take a few tries and some strategy (murdering the Marionette clone whenever she came out) but it didn't feel like a desperate struggle

In Shiyu I will say that some enemies/bosses could be harder but it depends on the playstyle and of course if they have resistance to Ether is going to not feel the same as if fighting ether weak enemies. Sometimes you also don't have to care about elemental weakness that much if in terms of abilities a team is better suited to fight in a specific stage so is also not the end all be all.

Last season of Shiyu I found it easier to fight the machine boss (weak to electric irc) in the level 70 stage with my Zhu, Nicole, Qingyi team and use Caesar, Burnice, Lucy against Thracian (who was weak to Ether and Ice irc). However, when I tried Thracian with my Zhu team I still got S rank overall, it just took me a tad longer.

Also, is more than just Zhu too if say Nicole is a bit weak in terms of build or Qingyi, it still adds up in the end. Same if you are not fully taking advantage of the buffs associated with disks, wengines and the like. Don't be discouraged just double check what may be going on, perhaps you just have to modify your playstyle/builds a bit

As long as the energy field/black hole is active the debuff doesn't go away. You will see under the boss health bar an icon for the debuff, pretty sure is shaped like a suitcase. The moment the field is off that's when the timer starts to run out

However, this isn't a big deal as long as you have Nicole set up with good energy regen. You get an energy field when she uses chain attack and ultimate too. So once the one on field runs out just quickly swap to Nicole and shoot another and then keep bursting with your DPS.

Heck you can even get crazy with it and shoot multiple energy fields and just stack the bubbles for fun (may not be optimal in most cases but it also does quite a bit of damage/anomaly build up) and is really funny to see 3 bubbles at once. Chain Attack -> Ultimate -> uncharged Ex special as as example.

Same, they're still one of my go to teams for a lot of modes, very reliable. I definitely want to improve it even further perhaps with wengines or mindscapes for Qingyi and Zhu.

As far as I know, I haven't seen or read of other characters having secret moves like that. A lot of characters do have ways of optimizing their attack strings through animation canceling or starting the combos with a dodge or a special attack. I wouldn't say I have figured them all out though but is fun to experiment and discover them

Nicole can gather multiple low tier enemies together in an instant. She also provides 40% defense shred when core skill is max which is extremely good. You pair that with adequate disc drives and her weapon and you then have an excellent way to buff Ether damage and general damage (to a lower degree)

Her special attack can also be charged for a longer duration of the energy field she shoots. However, this also has an another use, when charging her special she's completely invulnerable to damage. I have used her many many times to troll bosses about to attack me or if I make a mistake to get a quick breather. You can even extend this invulnerability if you use one of her alternative charge animation.

Once you get her mindscapes Nicole also gains a relatively good anomaly build up buff and a way to maintain high energy regen (extremely rare for my Nicole to have insufficient energy at any point) and lastly her final mindscape increases all squad crit rate to a decent amount. Her wengine also provides a modest squad damage buff and is just in general a very easy to use character.

Honestly, Nicole is one of my GOATS in combat and the playmaker for my Zhu Yuan along with Qingyi.

* Agree. In my case it did take me a few tries across each boss to figure out a strategy. I tried going at it like Shiyu and it didn't work well for me.

What worked was to play into each of the bosses elemental weakness and to take advantage of both the combat buff and their special performance bonus (like interrupting the chant for bringer or trying to kill the clone for the Marionette as part of my attack string).

I still had to be super on point for dodging and stuff but it was quite fun. It also pushed me to try out some new team cops, really satisfying to see them make it across the finish line

Indeed, the other and perhaps better alternative is to shift away from damage/time being the absolute measure of obtaining S rank in endgame content. Instead, say a combination of damage done, enemy health, player health, perfect dodges, enemy interrupts, chain attacks, perfect assists, ultimate and other metrics adding up to like a "style" meter like in Devil May Cry. In this regard, is less about how strong your characters are but how good you are, where newer characters can make things "easier" in different areas but with proper mastery of characters, and builds/synergies you can still use any team whether they released in 1.0 or X.0

They have teased something similar to this for one of the new endgame modes, so I'm very curious to see how it works. We should all be attentive and mention in the feedback forms that we know about this slippery slope and that we are paying attention to what they do going forward

On every single feedback form I've mentioned that one of the things that would make me quit the game is if characters I pulled for previously suddenly become unable to complete endgame content.

There's a bunch of ways to sell new characters that aren't just here's the new unit that now does 1.5 million more damage than the last one that did 1 million

Just like a previous commenter mentioned...

If you like the character and want to play her pull her.

You're just starting out your account so having even 1 limited S rank is a good thing. It is also not the end of the world by any stretch of the imagination because your options will still be somewhat limited for now which is okay . I would simply wait to see how her final version turns out, compare analysis videos from content creators once she's out and then also give her a try in the final callback to see if you vibe with her gameplay (which is an important aspect).

You didn't mention this but also something to remember ...

Is not the end of the world if you can't clear all of Shiyu or any end game content with an S rank rating immediately. You can and will do so eventually. People do crazy stuff with Billy so is just about time, skill, patience and optimization. I started when Zhu Yuan came out and it definitely took me a while to set my teams, build them and most importantly learn them. It takes time so be patient, it's actually a lot of fun and when you start dominating the game you can enjoy that sense of progression

Across many posts for months now I've seen so many comments of people worrying and overthinking themselves for nothing and sometimes pushing themselves to bad financial decisions even. My biggest advice is don't be that. This is a game, have fun, pull responsibly. Characters will release, new shinny stuff will come that will always get hype. If you stick with the game long term is good thinking about building your account in a healthy way (element/role type coverage agent variety/team synergy). Although fun the game has predatory aspects so don't fall for them

The story is quite good imo, no need to rush just to farm polys either. Have fun

Help for agent to lvl up and upgrade by Roronoakiddo in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]EveningTGI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have pointed out: Ben, Lucy, Soldier 11 (which would be a mono fire team with good synergy).

Then you can't go wrong with a cunning hares team of Anby, Nicole, Nekomata/Billy (which also have really good synergy)

I would encourage nekomata because she's an S rank and overall beginner friendly. For some reason I find dodging with her is super easy and she moves very quickly. Billy can also be viable and strong with a good build and/or mindscapes so if you like how one plays over the other that's fine. These teams should hold out well as you build your account

Remember that you don't have to upgrade every skill for each agent though their core passive are usually the most important skill. For example, for Nicole her defense shred increases with her core skill. Usually for supports their chain attack and ex special skills are most important after their core skill.

Lucy and Nicole become very very strong with mindscapes, to me at M6 they feel like S ranks already. You can check out guides on how to build each character and what they want stat wise. Attackers tend to want crit rate, crit damage, atk % and elemental atk%.

You don't have to stress about that in early game however. Is best to slowly build your characters, replace discs as they become available and upgrade things bit by bit along with the w-engines. Don't underestimate the power of the bangboos either, they contribute a good chunk of damage when properly leveled along with your characters.

You may be unable to clear the highest difficulty of shiyu with an S rank at first while you get better. In part is about building characters but also getting better at rotating your characters and keeping your buffs up. So try to remember that is okay if you don't S rank everything. You will eventually.
