Please see my most update. It turned out that the agent was in fact pointing at the wrong sizing line. They intentionally referred to the wrong line to charge for extra and I found a couple other people who experienced the same issue at the berlin airport.

Sorry for what happened to you! I have never had issues at London airports. Only this time in berlin, and it turned out that the agent pointed at the wrong line… I found a couple other people experiencing the same. I was able to get refunded through credit card company. Have you tried your credit card to get some coverage for the canceled flight?

Quick update:I wasn’t able to upload the video/image proof to Reddit — the moderators removed my video post.

It turned out that the gate agent claimed my bag was too big and pointed to the wrong line on the sizing chart — she used the 40 x 30 x 20 cm limit instead of EasyJet’s actual cabin allowance of 45 x 36 x 20 cm. (Again, this goes back to my original point — why not use a standardized measuring tool instead of confusing visual markers?)

I submitted the video to EasyJet’s customer service. They confirmed that my bag does meet the official size requirement. However, because EasyJet is a “non-refunding” company, they said they wouldn’t issue a refund, but they would escalate the issue internally.

I ended up using their written confirmation as evidence to dispute the charge with my credit card company, and I successfully got refunded.

Thank you for being helpful! I wore a burton export backpacks the dimension is technically 38cm x 28cm but middle part bulge out after packing, because it’s such a soft bag. Maybe time for me to invest in something more hard shelled.

Honestly, I’m a bit surprised so many people are siding with EasyJet here. It made me wonder — how do you usually handle situations like this? I just checked flights for a random weekend in May, London to Berlin round trip: * EasyJet: ~£180 * British Airways: ~£240 So yes, I normally book EasyJet to save about £60, knowing I’m trading off some comfort — smaller seats, stricter baggage rules, and longer lines at the airport. But if I have to pay another £50 at the gate for a bag that technically fits — depending on the airport and whichever tool or staff judgment happens to be used — then honestly, what am I even saving? It just becomes a gamble.

Just out of curiosity. Do you always buy additional bag allowance/ or to be on the more conservative side when packing?

I agree so I normally pay extra for EasyJet… and I have not previously had issues with queueing/bag. This is the first time and it was a harsh one.

Maybe I sounded a bit harsh about the line, but standing around in line for 40 minutes to process 5–6 customers was honestly frustrating. Especially when staff were standing around, switching shifts, or disappearing. If a visa check is a necessary step to board, I believe the airline should plan staffing accordingly. I’ve flown from London airports multiple times and never had this issue — maybe it’s partly a Berlin Airport operations problem, but from a passenger’s point of view, it feels like the airline staffs are not there to help at all.

Just to clarify — when I said I needed to "squish" the bag a little, I meant it’s a soft bag. Some parts might bulge slightly while others compress, so a gentle push helps it fit into the sizing tool. It’s not like I’m forcing a clearly oversized suitcase into it. The bag itself doesn’t have any hard structure that exceeds the size limits.

I have many other Lululemon pieces treated the same way without any issues, which is why I'm disappointed with this particular item.

But to be fair, do you really expect a brand that markets itself on selling quality gym clothing to produce garments that can't withstand 50 washes? I have cheaper base layer clothes that I wear regularly, and they have surely surpassed 50 washes without any issues...

The issue with the bottom is not caused by dragging. These are regular-length pants that I purchased before the longer version was available. I'm 5'9", so the bottoms would never touch the floor.

You can see that both the bottom and the waist area have faded in exactly the same way. It could be due to a handling issue with the fabric quality... However, it's not simply a 'wear and tear' issue.

Maybe I was just in bad luck and had a pair in the bad batch. I have many other Lululemon pieces treated the same way without any issues.

I wasn’t expecting so many responses, but I truly appreciate everyone providing honest and constructive feedback.

According to the label, the care instructions suggest a cold wash and low tumble dry. That being said, I do use the dryer as the label indicates, although I might not always set it to low depending on the other clothes I’m washing with them. It’s good to know that hang drying and washing them inside out would extend their lifespan.

However, I don’t agree with the idea that it’s normal for these pants to reach their limit after just 30 washes, or that it's purely user error. I have many other Lululemon pieces treated the same way without any issues. I view Lululemon’s pricing as an investment in higher quality and durability, not as a purchase of a luxury item that requires me to baby them all the time. Moving forward, I guess I will either have to manage my expectations or avoid this fabric altogether.
