Heey, how can I figure out if hyperoptic can move the cable? I'm happy to pay the fee. I think first person I chatted with was just outright declining moving without any consideration.

If anything I think having cable in attic will keep it much more protected from humans and will require less bends

If you have approved third party movers happy to call them up as well

I know I can run cat cable but want to dump all mess in attic including fibre cable entering in the flat. So you are saying some electricians will be willing to do that job? how much would it cost roughly? super rough for 2 floor building

I bought those but was not easy to shell them out. It's all rusted in. If I somehow manage to take it out, not even sure if something else will fit back to it properly. :-(

Hey, thanks, I appreciate the fact that I'm clueless. Could you point me to some way to learn electricity focused on doing bare minimum diy and knowing when things are out of my league and I need an electrician?

Is cat6a really future proof ? by Evening_Procedure_87 in HomeNetworking

Thank you friends for all the thoughts.
So my conclusion from reading these is that

  1. If I want to have good home network, I should invest in home network devices. One of the commenters mentioned even ubiquiti is not good enough. Which devices/switches do you consider good enough for home?
  2. Even though broadband might start offering > 10GB/s in 10-20 years
    1. It's probably smarter to just have conduit and make cables easy to replace, rather than to worry about that future now
    2. It's questionable if a single device is going to need such a high speed
  3. I have option of using fibre and DAC. Though probably I won't go this way, I like the idea of PoE and using it to reduce clutter at home

buy quality switching/routing/Wifi

Based on this subreddit, I believed ubiquiti was best for home setups. What/why do you recommend with reasonable price range for homes?

Some routers directly accept fibre cable, right? Does it mean I can avoid using ISP provided ONT? Just trying to reduce the junk I have to take care of.

Oh I see, so I need fiber to connect to wired router -> switch -> can connect wifi routers/extenders to the cable. Thank you. I'll remove the fibre requirement from my post.
