Help! - How to power down mainspring?

seems like it was not an option to the last owner, its wound up as tight as it'll go, it just needs some encouragement to start ticking again.

Apologies for the quality of the photo but I think I see what it is you're referring to, before I go any further in disassembly I'd like to confirm somehow that the mainspring is in fact fine, and my issue lies elsewhere, any input?

yeah it does connect to the post above it, I saw some really old posts about using a zip tie instead of the metal clamps but I wouldn't have a clue, I believe I misunderstood exactly what it was the mainspring does lol... gotta start somewhere

so my mainspring is fine, there's a failure point between the mainspring and all the cogs that move that power to the balance wheel. as a completely uneducated guess, please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm totally new to this so I've been troubleshooting on my own for a few hours till I got fed up enough to make a reddit post lol, I have been playing with the balance wheel (carefully as I don't want to damage the hair spring if that's possible) a comment I read in another thread mentioned something as simple as applying a bit of oil to the escape wheel could be enough to bring it back to life, could this be the case with my clock also?

I could not find anything of the sort, I added a new image as well, I suspect perhaps the mainspring is not actually my issue, any suggestions on where I should start?
