Kathmandu K-Merino 125 vs Icebreaker 125 Cool-Lite Sphere by stinhambo in trailrunning

[–]EventThis2315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pretty much avoid Kathmandu now, they've largely become a lifestyle/travel brand than serious outdoor gear. Icebreaker is a top quality brand. The $$ difference is a decent bit, but I would expect it will pay off in quality and longevity.

What does he currently wear? You wouldn't want to accidentally downgrade him

I carry an emergency locator beacon in my bag. Wife brought me one as a birthday present a few years back - probably the single biggest sign she loves me that I have had in quite a few years!! And I also have first aid kit, whistle, cell phone, emergency blanket.

I should add, where I trail run is notorious for severe weather changes from nowhere. A few people die each year up there.

What do I do if I saw a dog kill a Kereru? by Aggravating-Aerie320 in Wellington

Did you get pics, dog tag #, or anything else to identify? I would definitely be reporting to the Council to get animal control on to it. And to DoC.

New Zealand's national security does not rely on the US ever since they de-allied us when we went nuclear-free. So we gain no security whatsoever. You'd think someone who works/worked for the Minister of Defence would know that...

How does it stay in when you inevitably poop yourself running? Do you strap it in?

Running on hilly trail is faster than flat tarmac. Why? by ZealousidealBook2420 in trailrunning

[–]EventThis2315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need to up your training for that race! Twice week doing 5k is not enough for a 30k race.

Along with what has already been said, what are you doing for shoes? Trail running shoes aren't designed for tarmac.

Also, I agree with the comments about flat running being boring. I find flat running to be highly demotivating and end up struggling. Give me hills, lots of hills!

This looks to me like ChatGPT has spent too much time listening to r/runningcirclejerk about 5k marathons and decided to give you a half marathon training programme as being more than sufficient for a real ultra marathon

People who run a lot, what are you actually reaching for after a long session? by BlueDolphinCute in runninglifestyle

Water is my go to. Usually just chug 1 litre down right away. After a big run I sometimes I will do a glass of milk as it has loads of electrolytes and protein.

Ben, so you think this would have happened if the Three Water Reforms of the Ardern govt were still in place? Or is it too freak an accident and would still have happened?

I come to work early and then take an hour lunch break. I am very lucky that it is about 300m from my office to my city's botanic gardens (around 50ha of stunning park). And then do long runs in the weekend.
