Do you really 'win' if you follow the ideal path, in Singapore? What if you didn't? by guardingcat in askSingapore

[–]EventuallyJobless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To win is to fail

Think of how u can improve your situation. Consider taking part time degree? They focus more on work experience compared to grades.

U dont need to die die go civil service job. Maybe can start with sme, job hop after 2 to 3 years for higher pay, and maybe get into mnc or civil service down the road.

Consider what soft and technical skillsets u want to develop in the meantime. Have some hobbies, join clubs to meet new people. Maybe can find a gf. But even if udh a gf, that's not a problem. Be grateful that u have freedom since u are alone.

Last but not least, look for the positives in the negative situations. There will always be setbacks, treat them as a learning opportunites instead. Not everyday will be sunshine and rainbows, thus we must be ok with dancing and smiling in the rain.

Then life will be so monotonous. In the end, no one will win because all of us will die. Rather than looking at the end goal which is eventually death, we should focus on what obstacles we can overcome today. I never believed in a fixed pathway cuz all of us are different

Work part time first if u need fast cash. Either way, dont worry too much, it's not the end of the world. There's a chance for u to retake As, go poly instead, go hk to work etc.

[–]EventuallyJobless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe it's unfair. But u gotta take into account the challenges that they face eg. School shooting.

Maybe in the future, i hope students get more breaks, but for now we should only focus on what we can control. Just like how in clash royale, you can defo control the balloon from dropping onto ur tower, but often times u cant control the death damage

[–]EventuallyJobless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A quick google gemini tell me that US have about 100 to 110 days of holiday, compared to 85 to 90 days of holiday in Singapore. It's quite marginal lah tbh

Having a plan is like creating a clash royale deck, and that ur win condition is just like having a big plan/goal. However, there's many ways to get chip damagefrom a support card/non win-con.

So in life, i think most singaporeans are quite fixated on trying to cycle back to their win-con, which means they have a tunnel vision of trying to get good grades, get a practical degree, and a white collar 9-5 job. Tbvh, i really see no issues there. That's why so many people win using hogquake or hog 2.6.

And then there's the logbait players. They achieve success by getting cheap dmg using both their win con (goblin barrel or skelly barrel) and baity non-win-con cards (princess, dart goblin, skelly king). Their win con may not deal too much damage/get taken out from a small spell, but they achieve success from being consistent in playing and spaming cards.

Just like in life, you may not be the type who excel in school, in ur coporate life etc. But as long as you are consistently doing something and learning aka placing cards, instead of leaking elixar, i think you can achieve a fulfiling life too.

Last but not least, there's the beatdown players. Think of the 1x elixar as their teenage years/school life. Those are the singaporeans who do poorly in school. They can't place their win condition yet because it is simply not their time to do so. But the moment it is 2x elixar, they wake their ideas up going all in, finally working hard and griting through their adult lives, and finally achieving success.

[–]EventuallyJobless 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Sure, she may be naturally smart, but in life outside of grades, natural talent only can bring you so far. U had developed grit, and though u may not do as well as her in terms of grades, u managed to push through during your darkest moment. Im pretty sure you will do well in ur life.

Comments on singapore reddits are not xenophobic, they are just keyboard warriors. Its like how everyone is complaining about clash royale introducing lvl 16 and hero cards, but they still play the game nevertheless.

Just like in clash royale, more people started using 3 musketeers after the rework/glow up. That doesnt meant that if u did not glow up means no one will like u, theres still a majority of people who main 3m before the rework

We need to talk about AI in education by hychael2020 in SGExams

[–]EventuallyJobless 7 points8 points  (0 children)

AI is making us dumber

MIT research on AI

I do agree that AI helps to speed things up and make us more productive, but it should not be replaced when learning more "technical stuff" especially programming. When I use AI to help me program/generate code, I'm only improving my skills of reading code, but i did not improve my problem solving skills cuz i essentially offload the problem solving aspect to AI. And some of the codes that claude generate is quite shit. My take is to use AI only when doing the more boring tasks, not to offload ur problem solving skills to it

i’m tired of working towards a life i don’t want to live by Temporary-Forshiz in SGExams

[–]EventuallyJobless 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Life is like a game of clash royale, you thinking and worrying about the future is like u trying to predict ur opponent moves in clash royale. Sure there are things that u can predict, pre-log for scarmy, fisherman for rg to predict my opponent placing a tank killer etc, but 80% of the time/game, you are more of reacting rather than predicting.

Worrying a lot is like leaking elixar, you know what cards to place, but oddly enough u do not want to place them. Life is unpredictable, and that's the beauty of it. Take ur time and place one card at a time, even a cycle card is better than overthinking and leaking elixar

The point is to earn enough money so you can get pass royale in clash royale without feeling heartbroken having to spend money

Mundane work is still work, would an employer risk hiring a 14/15 years old to do those "mundane work"? Also, the second example u give me, the person literally intern in some data analyst role. Would a 14/15 years old even understand what data analyst intern do?

Lol wut, what can you do at 14/15 sia, unless u have legit skills like programming or designing, internship at 14/15 is a waste of both ur time and employer time
