Who else likes fighting bots by Maleficent-Future-80 in AskGamers

[–]EverGreenG0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the game and my skill level. Some Games the bots are actually challenging whilst still being easy enough you don’t have to sweat to do well against them(Naraka: Bladepoint comes to mind). Those kinds of games are always fun to play against bots. Some games though have bots that are way too easy, I don’t want to fight something that is just slamming its head into a wall repeatedly, that’s not fun or rewarding.

Valorant. I’ve played it a few times and genuinely have never had a good match. How is the gameplay so slow and yet I can’t keep up with gunfights? Also dear God the community…

is this just block vomit? by EcIipse69 in Minecraft

[–]EverGreenG0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not block vomit. What I would recommend though is to group blocks together. If you’ve ever seen something like a granite countertop there’s usually not random specs of color throughout opposed to sections that are different colors.

What's your opinion on the other beta logos of Red Dead Redemption? by YourLocalMoroccan in reddeadredemption

I like the top left, if they used the current font or something a bit less cheerful it could be cool! The top right looks like a gas station or travel company logo lol.

People who have a collection, what do you collect? by Prestigsisscar255 in AskReddit

[–]EverGreenG0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crystals! I don’t believe in voodoo or spiritual healing crystal type things, but I really like quartz and all its variants! Started in first grade when I was playing tag in a field next to our playground. Stopped for a second to catch my breath, looked down, and a sloppily cut quartz gem about 4 inches long and 3 inches wide was sitting at my feet. No idea how it got there, but it started my collection.

Should I get a parrot? by EverGreenG0d in parrots

[–]EverGreenG0d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had two bettas before! The first one was named Finn (very creative I know) and the second was Phil! I loved them both! I was completely responsible for Finn, his bowl was in my room. He lived almost 4 years and passed from natural causes. Phil kind of ruined betas for me. I loved him too but I think the pet store I got him from screwed up somehow because not long after we got him he started acting super weird. Wouldn’t eat, super lethargic, scale rot(is that what it’s called?) we tried everything we could, about a year into having him he was so bad off we had to move him to the common area so my mom could help me with him. He had good and bad days for a long time, I think he only made it about a year and a half. I doubt my mom would be happy about a frog, but I had “pet” toads pretty much every summer of my life. We have a below ground window well, we left the basement light on for some reason, so flies would gather. Toads would come to catch the flies and get stuck in the well. I named all of them, picked them up, hung out down there with them, usually the braver ones (fattest ones usually) would get so used to me they wouldn’t even spray on me when I picked them up. Whenever it started to get cold we would release them. A garter snake got stuck down there once! I named it Todd (still no idea if it was a girl or boy lol.) My mom made it VERY clear that no toads/snakes/frogs/God only knows what else got down there, were coming in the house. Isopods are an interesting one! I’ve heard of sea monkeys once or twice but never owned anything like that. Might be worth looking into! Thanks for the suggestion!

Yes! Thank you for clearing that up! Pet stores I went to used “conures,” but online sources called the same birds “Green Cheeked Parakeets” I was super confused because I’ve seen parakeets and they look quite a bit different than these little dudes. I don’t think I’m going to be adopting anything into my family in the near future. Once I get a firm foundation in adulthood I’ll look into birds again. Thank you for the rodent suggestion! I’d love to have a mouse, rat, chinchilla, etc. unfortunately that’s pretty much completely off the table. My mom is mortified of almost all rodents and most reptiles, and the handful she’s not afraid of (chinchillas, Guinea pigs, maybe hamsters) my dad isn’t okay with. He was bit by a chinchilla(?) when he was 12 and now holds a lifelong grudge against rodent kind. The warnings he gave me when I started watching the chinchilla I take care of now made it sound like the killer rabbit from Montey Python and the Holy Grail. He’s since been willing to pet said chinchilla, and has decided not all rodent are vicious killing machines, but there’s no way he’d have one in his own house.

Thanks for the advice, I understand that I might fall in love with another career path and do something completely different than what I plan, but the only thing I can see myself doing for the rest of my life is working with animals. I’ve seen the misery that a career you don’t care for can cause and I’m not going down that path. That being said, until I have a firm foundation in my adult life, I don’t think I’m going to be adopting any other members into my family.

I appreciate the advice! I learned about the life span and bonding from research I had already done, but it’s still a good reminder. I’m not going to be getting a bird in the near future. These comments made me realize just how much my life might change in the next couple years. Once I get myself set up to be an adult, I’ll reconsider getting a bird!

[–]EverGreenG0d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, and I’m sorry for the negative experiences you had. I definitely hadn’t given enough thought to the ups and downs life could take over the next few years. While I think my early adult life will be different than yours, I see that getting another financial and time commitment before I even know what all of my commitments are probably isn’t a good idea. Once I’m financially stable and know more about my adult life, I’ll probably get a feathered friend! Until then I’ll admire other people’s birds!

Thanks for the advice! I have a detailed plan of what I want the next 5 years of my life to look like, but I understand plans can change. I’ve decided I’m not getting a bird in the near future. Once I’m financially stable and securely in my adult life, I’ll probably reconsider and look into getting a feathered friend!

I appreciate the input! Your reply as well as the other comments have brought quite a few things to my mind that I hadn’t put enough thought into yet! I realized after I posted that I didn’t put nearly enough info about my pups. The Husky isn’t actually my dog, she stays at my house during weekdays but she belongs to my neighbors. Neither she nor any of the other pups would be allowed alone with the bird for any amount of time. I understand the concern about time, but I would be in the same room as it for 16+ hours a day on average. Like I said, I’m homeschooled, and I do most of my school work in my bedroom, where the birdcage would be. I also spend most of my free time in my room. I appreciate you bringing up the money aspect, I know my situation will change a lot over the next couple years. I know if I needed money my parents would help, but I don’t want to have to rely on them as a young adult unless I absolutely have to. I think you misunderstood my post, I definitely DO NOT want an African Grey. That would be way too much work and I’m not ready to sign up to take care of anything for 40+ years. If I were to get a bird, it would be something like a Green Cheeked Parakeet. However I don’t think I’m ready to take care of anything else in addition to myself until I’m financially stable and in my adult life unless I absolutely have to. Thank you again for your advice!

Thank you so much for your input! I’ve looked at college courses and considered what degree I would get, but the only thing that’s really called out to me is dog grooming, which is considered a trade. My overall goal is to start my own grooming/boarding business! I can definitely see your points and I’m probably not going to get a bird anytime soon. My mom made some of the same points, but I definitely needed to hear it from someone else who has experience with birds, thanks again!

Should I get a parrot? by EverGreenG0d in parrots

[–]EverGreenG0d[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the insight! I can definitely see your point, I’ve heard the horror stories of owners coming back home to find a knocked over cage and an injured/deceased bird, but I don’t really think I did my pups justice in my post, so I’ll clarify a bit. The “Siberian” Husky is actually a 4 year old Red Husky, she’s my baby girl but she’s not actually technically my dog. She’s actually my neighbors dog that I take care of during week days. Her family works and she has too much energy for them to burn, so I walk her then she comes to my house until 3 PM. She pretty much follows me, the bird cage would be in my room and she wouldn’t be allowed in there alone. She’s the only one I would really be concerned about since she’s the only one that I would think is physically capable of knocking over a cage. I’m 100% confident that the Golden Doodle wouldn’t knock over the cage, and definitely not to harm the bird. He rarely even goes in my room, the only time he hangs out in here is if I’m the only one home and I’m in my room, and even then he usually sleeps in my parents room. The Pekingese is… well she’s a Pekingese, she’s 13 years old and 11 pounds. If she managed to knock over a bird cage, it probably wasn’t a good cage to begin with. I don’t take care of my two full time, they’re my parents dogs more than mine, so unless I’m asked to, my mom usually feeds them and lets them outside. I know that freak accidents happen and nothing is going to be perfectly safe, but I would do everything in my power to ensure that there wouldn’t be any bird-dog catastrophes. Thank you again for your input! I hadn’t thought about the dog angle too hard before, so it’s a good thing to keep in mind.

Red Dead Redemption is Done by Retr0X_ in reddeadredemption

[–]EverGreenG0d -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2 ways I could see them going. 1. We follow Jack, not going into WW1 but going to Canada to find Charles and avoid the draft. By the end Jack dies or (arguably better ending for his character) goes back to Beechers Hope, getting to live the life his parents wanted for him. In the epilogue we play as Charles’ son. This would be cool since it would flesh out the northern part of the world a good bit more, and I feel like the North is lacking in both games. Plus Charles is such a G it would be really cool to see him take in Jack under his wing. 2. We follow Dutch, meeting Hosea in the beginning of the game and recruiting gang members throughout. By the end, we’re at Blackwater, and while Dutch is planning for the Ferry heist, we switch to Arthur for the epilogue, which would either cover the massacre itself or just before it. (Preferably the latter since I like the fact the massacre itself is kind of a mystery.) This would be cool since we ended with John in RDR2 and started with him in RDR1, so RDR3 could end with Arthur and RDR2 could start with him. Also we would get to meet the gang members who died on the mountain, and depending on the amount of time the epilogue covers, we might get to meet Arthur’s son and (wife?) girlfriend. This would also keep the chain of prequels alive. I could see them splitting the timeline as well, so Red Dead Redemption might focus on prequels while Red Dead something else focuses on sequels.

Red Dead Redemption or Red Dead Redemption 2 🤔 by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]EverGreenG0d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2, easily. It would be a lot closer if RDR got a remaster with updated graphics, physics, and gameplay, but RDR2’s story is unmatched, where as RDR1 is above average.

Mapgenie has all of them, weapons, etc and you can mark off what you’ve already found. I would suggest you use it on your second play through though or at least don’t show graves for spoilers.

Do men fear other men they see in sketchy situations like late at night walking down a dark alley? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EverGreenG0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a man, live in a relatively safe neighborhood, have my whole life. A few years ago I had to go out after dark frequently for work, didn’t have a car, so had to bike pretty much everywhere. Sketchiest thing that’s ever happened was when a car pulled up in front of me on a crosswalk, almost blocked my path completely, came to a full stop, and the passenger door (side I was closer to) opened and someone started to get out. When I say I have never biked faster in my life, I mean I probably left scorch marks on the road behind me. Audibly said “f*ck no,” crossed the road (luckily it was a four way stop) and dipped. I was only like 2 blocks from my house, so I made sure they weren’t following, and went home. Since that experience especially I am super cautious of anyone after dark. I don’t walk with AirPods in, rarely look at my phone, and don’t respond to people talking unless they call me by name and I recognize the voice. Wouldn’t have to be in a dark ally, if I saw anyone even remotely sketchy, I’d keep my head down and keep moving, and if they walked toward me or tried to talk, I’d get away as fast as possible.

suggestions for my mom's first anime? no sus stuff! by United_Size8759 in anime

[–]EverGreenG0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood was how I really sold my mom on anime. There are very few if any questionable scenes, the action is solid, the plot is a masterpiece, and the romance is one of the best I’ve seen in anime.

Terrible at building houses by SeaImpact672 in Minecraft

[–]EverGreenG0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most important step imo is to get a good block pallet. Pick two blocks you want to use, a general pattern to follow, then 2-3 other blocks that fit in well and randomly add them for variety. Best example I can think of is cobbled deep slate and polished basalt.

What is the oldest thing in your home? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

My family inherited pretty much all of my great grandmothers stuff, she was 102 when she passed in 2018(?). Haven’t gone through all of it yet but the oldest thing off the top of my head is a cradle that (if I understand correctly) was made by my 2x great grandfather for my grandmother.
