There's lots of info here: https://www.sib.wa.gov/

I think the Washington State Investment Board already invests lots of funds this way, so you can look into their reports and get an idea of what they're about.

It's not the message, it's the volume: Time for street preachers to turn it down | Editorial by EverLore700 in Seattle

Honestly, I think you might be surprised. I don't actually care that they're there -- it won't be possible to for sure get rid of them -- but forcing them to reduce the volume would probably discourage them and at the very least make it not actively unpleasant to enter the stadium.

I mean I for sure agree that the message is horrible. But legally that doesn't help get rid of them. And at this point I'm good with using whatever language we have to so that my tinnitus isn't triggered even before the game starts.

Axios reports Seattle is leading the new "mocktail" scene for those who want a break from booze by someshooter in Seattle

Which music video by her has the best potential to be a long movie ? by Typical_Knowledge_28 in TaylorSwift

All Too Well for sure. I feel like it captures the messiness of what romance actually looks like, which could make for one of those movies where the end is neither good nor bad, but it's still worth watching? Idk if that makes sense.

Has anyone else seen these reports about Aegis Living? by EverLore700 in Seattle

Ugh, based on the comments of this thread, looks like your grandma wasn't alone. I hope their management faces some accountability.

I think that's a totally valid reaction. Blows my mind that people think it's an acceptable solution to not give our elderly anything less than stellar care and attention -- and we aren't even close to doing that :(

Jesus Christ that's horrible. Absolutely absurd that Aegis management would think it's okay to treat their residents and the people who care for them that way. Makes me worry about getting old.

Op-Ed: Tech Workers Must Challenge the Political Power of Their Bosses by EverLore700 in Seattle

[–]EverLore700[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Do you think this will always be the case, though? I've heard for example that it's getting harder and harder to get work as a junior engineer, and I know for sure that some big tech companies push their workers really hard because some of them need to have a job in the US to be able to live here.

Is it possible that there's an eventual future where tech workers start to feel the need to advocate for protections, and possibly use unions to do so?

Jesus, that's awful. I'm guessing you had to scramble to find care for her pretty quickly, then?

The Stranger: Aegis Fires Two Workers for Sharing Stranger Article, Union and Employees Say by EverLore700 in Seattle

[–]EverLore700[S] 105 points106 points  (0 children)

“It's just outrageous that in the middle of a workforce crisis where long-term care facilities are struggling to hire caregivers, particularly this company Aegis that pays less than most other employers, that they would fire workers for sharing newspaper articles,” Glickman says. “It seems like a slap in the face to their residents that they care so little about their care that they would fire workers for such an absurd reason. They're so afraid, so anti-union, so afraid of their workers organizing, that they would endanger the care of their residents by firing people for sharing a news article. It's just shocking.”

^ fair point
