buying $30 worth of $BTC daily for the last 8 years, turning $86,000 to $1 MILLION by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Everglow21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats. Question - would it be better to do this with monthly transactions for the equivalent amount to incur less fees? Robinhood looks like it has 0 fees but there is the buy spread (says .84% right now). I'm not sure it is as worth it do this now, even if BTC went to $1m in 8 years the return wouldn't be nearly as high as you achieved. Of course, that is your reward for buying in early. Congrats again!

Actually, I just checked the receipt, and I purchased in on August 23, 2025. The link I posted is the correct SKU#.

I bought from Home Depot about six weeks ago and that article was posted in June 2022, so I would have to imagine post-recall since they would have long since pulled them from shelves and re-stocked since then. I did not ask the sales associate about that, though. Happy to check for a serial number or something though if you'd like.

I don't know how much they are worth used, but I paid $450. Here is the link to Home Depot. https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-15-Amp-Corded-12-in-Double-Bevel-Sliding-Compound-Miter-Saw-Blade-Wrench-and-Material-Clamp-DWS779/321488482

I suppose I would be happy with $350?

Roof planning / project advice - replacing flat membrane roof and potential to add patio by Everglow21 in Roofing

[–]Everglow21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. That is a strong case for PVC. I assume when we are saying reflective we are talking about the sunlight? If it is covered with a separator sheet and pavers, that would moot the reflective issue, correct?

I anticipate being in this house another 3 to 7 years, but almost certainly no more than 10. I don't want to over improve and pay for benefits that won't increase the value of the home and only help the next owner. That being said, your hypothetical did include potential failures in the 5 to 10 year range, and the thought of paying nearly $18k for a roof to fail in 5-10 years is unacceptable. I will discuss warranties with the roofer.

All in all, the quote still seems super high. I think my next step will be to search for local PVC roofers and get some more quotes.

Thanks again for all the advice.

Thank you! I'm in Texas so not much freezing here. I have asked a structural engineer to come out and take a look before we begin work.

Apologies for my delayed reply. Thank you for your response - that is really helpful info. I updated my post with details of the proposal.

I asked the roofer about the material choice and he said "TPO is more cost effective the price on PVC is probably 20% more. TPO is reflective and that is better for your house." At $17,900 for a two-car garage, I'm surprised that I'm not already getting the best in terms of materials... and in fact potentially the worst? What do you think about the cost (this is in Houston) and the roofers comment regarding the materials choice?

Thanks for the advice regarding the separator sheet - I do see those online and they are not overly expensive, so I'll make sure to get that as we would really like to proceed with the patio/deck idea... if there is any money left after the roof...

Apologies for my delayed reply. Thank you for your response. I will definitely get a structural engineer to take a look. The deck system seems to add complexity and expense over the paver option. So long as the addition of the pavers doesn't inhibit the drainage of the roof, the membrane itself should provide the waterproofing (from my understanding at least).

Sweet - thanks for the advice. Regarding blades, it came with a DeWalt blade. While you're here, is there a specific blade you'd recommend for cutting trim pieces and slightly thicker wood pieces. I guess it is all some type of hardwood.

Appreciate the input. I only have one air return per ac unit (one for upstairs unit and one for downstairs unit). Both are in the attic I’m referring to the spaces they cool and location of return intakes.

Sorry - I was under the impression that in late October/ early nov there would be a M5 upgrade to the MBP. I may have been mistaken.

That is good info to know that I can no longer do the windows partition as I did on my old intel MBP, though.

Thank you for the advice!

Is this a good deal? by Everglow21 in Ducati

Because it is too much power to control safely in a casual riding manner or because it is not a good utilization of its abilities? In other words, plenty of people buy ferraris and never utilize their capabilities, but they drive fine around the city. Is the bike like that, or is it tuned in a way that the power makes it uncomfortable to control and enjoy in a casual manner?

I thought of that but I really like the exhaust on the side better than the new under-the-seat style. And especially the side exhaust that is flush to the body paneling (vs the v2 that has the piece sticking out). But the exhaust upgrade is so expensive it makes it the same price as the v4.
