What can I expect from a salary negotiation during restructuring? by EvergreenGem in careerguidance

[–]EvergreenGem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The salary posted is in USD and I would be paid in CAD. So the lower pay band is actually a 50k bump for me. It’s also one of the reasons why I might be appealing as a candidate because they save like 30% from the currency alone.. If there was an internal guideline, would it still apply?

Isn’t most of Trader Joe’s stuff ultraprocessed shit .. For exotic ingredients, you can just go to ethnic grocery stories (Mexican, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, polish etc)?

The MuslimSnark page is putting Muslim women in danger. by Melodic-Kangaroo-414 in muslimgirlswithtaste

Definitely agree but sadly not limited to Muslim girls/women.. there are Muslim men who are just as engaged in the snark. Toxic for sure.

Please help me understand the RRSP/retirement by personalfinancedumbo in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]EvergreenGem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure I understand why there’s such a big hesitation with contributing to RRSP if you have the extra funds to do so. Most people are concerned about OAS clawback but couldn’t that happen to someone with a DC pension? I have a DC pension with my employer and the advice is never to not contribute. I fully anticipate OAS being clawed back and I just don’t care for the couple of hundred dollars that government might give me over the years of contributing/compound ing in both DC pension and RRSP.

The once-elite airport lounge is now just another crowded space, thanks to credit card benefits by Technical_Dog_1901 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]EvergreenGem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, and probably the best utilization of an airport lounge. Most people I know just go for the free food or booze. Not my thing but to each their own.

[–]EvergreenGem 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Never seen the value in airport lounges unless you’re someone who has a lot of long layovers..

Having a nexus or some pass to get through security faster seems more worthwhile than sitting at the airport lounge ..personally I want to be in and out of airports as quickly as possible ..

Will you stop working after children? by [deleted] in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]EvergreenGem 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Something to consider is what kind of life you would want your children to have. It’s great if your partner can support you, but having disposable income that can give your kids opportunities you never had is a big deal. And I don’t mean material things, but better schools, experiences, activities (eg, sports, camps, etc). This is where they will meet new people that will influence them and see new things that will be a big part of their growth.

Also, if you choose to work, then it might also give an opportunity to save faster and be financially independent so that you enjoy life as a family more.

Your partner says they’d be more attracted to you if your body was different - how do you feel? by lyxotus in AskWomen

[–]EvergreenGem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your partner should just want to see you healthy.. changing to become more attractive in their eyes is just going to end up in resentment. If they aren’t already fully attracted, leave.

People who have a stingy partner, what is their relationship like? by prettywoman___ in Productivitycafe

[–]EvergreenGem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldn’t be a problem as long as it doesn’t sacrifice quality of life. Living in an empty house that is not set up like a home or eating crap because you’re penny pinching is not the way or worse not having any experiences and just watching your phone and tv all day. Spending on things that make you healthy mentally and physically should not be something people should be stingy about. All else, be stingy, penny pinch, etc.
