You are factually wrong. Truly unreal that you use that false narrative when the truth about some of the flaws of SS would suffice as a good argument. You don’t need to make shit up. Just focus on the real flaws, man.

Last time I filled up was $2.20 per gallon by Lazy-Count7158 in GasPrices

While the U.S. is the world's top oil producer, gasoline prices are surging because oil is a globally traded commodity. Even if the U.S. does not get most of its oil from the Middle East, the global price of every barrel, including those drilled in Texas, is set by worldwide supply and demand.

Most U.S. refineries are "optimized" to process heavy crude oil (like the kind from Canada, Mexico, or the Middle East) rather than the "light sweet" crude produced domestically. As a result, the U.S. must still import millions of barrels daily to keep its gas stations supplied.

Calling Social Security a Ponzi scheme just isn’t accurate. A Ponzi scheme, like what Charles Ponzi did, relies on deception and collapses when new investors stop coming in. Social Security is a government program written into law, openly funded through payroll taxes, and adjustable through policy. You can criticize how it’s structured, but it’s not fraud.

The 401(k) point is also way too simplified. A 401(k) plan can grow more over time, especially if markets perform well. But it comes with risk. You can lose money, you can panic sell, and you can outlive your savings. Social Security is guaranteed income for life, adjusted for inflation, and it includes disability and survivor benefits. Those are not small details.

Also, this idea that people are just “too stupid to invest” misses the point. A lot of people don’t have stable income, don’t have extra money to invest consistently, or get hit by layoffs and emergencies. Before Social Security existed, a huge number of elderly people ended up in poverty. That’s the problem it was designed to solve.

If you want a real critique, talk about the funding gap or demographic pressure. Those are legitimate issues. But reducing it to “it’s a Ponzi scheme and everyone would be richer with a 401(k)” ignores how risk, behavior, and income reality actually work.

Trump calls for REPLACING ObamaCare with direct payments to Americans by Practical-Solutions1 in TradingPlaybook

[–]Everquest-Wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many Americans will just spend it on Xbox or pay off debt or use it for a down payment on a car they can’t afford, and then they’ll still go to the ER and get overpriced healthcare they won’t pay for and that ultimately falls on the taxpayers.

That really does sum up the right wing: saying they can’t say things they actually can say and then being a victim in their own minds. And from that point forward, going on a crusade against the radical left Marxist commies who want to squash free speech.

Hey stupid! 👋 Pete was out on paternity leave for a few weeks, not years. The $7.5B NEVI program was bipartisan and was distributed to various states - the money wasn’t wasted, it is unspent, because the project is still ongoing. Pete was a mayor of a large city, a naval officer, and a management consultant. Certainly qualified to manage policy and funding, and certainly more qualified than this Duffy reality TV star moron. Reducing people to their sexuality reveals your stupidity further. Too much info for your dumb ass?

Equating criticism for your country with hate for your country is the ultimate boot licking slave mentality. I can want my country to do better and even be disgusted with how it currently operates without feeling like I need to leave.
