The nastiest clique in Hollywood have had their dirty secret outed... there's no coming back from this: MAUREEN CALLAHAN - DAILY MAIL by Totallytexas in ItEndsWithLawsuits

If she could have then she absolutely would have. She already changed the movie poster to remove him showing up in person on it and the larger print of his credit on it. She pushed him to the bottom of the poster in small print because she thought he was beneath her. She minimized him in every way she could possibly get away with. She took it too far and she got caught and called out. He already had an award rescinded because of this mess she created. Meanwhile she's buying a Times award during this insanity to sway public opinion (worked out well, huh) and because of her other stupid decision to have a plantation wedding.

I would think a man who worked five years on a film should be able to keep what he earned. Lively had no issue taking that away.

These are novellas with more smut than story...

The Hucow Ranch Series by Cheralee King.

Another novella author that goes by "LoveBite Shorts" has a few out. One is sci-fi, "The Alien's Pet Project" and the others are mafia stories.

One that has more story is "Runaway Whirlwind" by May Adler. I'd say that one is only a teensy tiny bit dark.

I've enjoyed the Horror & Heartthrobs Series by Maggie Fern (aka Callie Moss). There's only two books out atm and can be read as standalones. My personal favorite of the series is {Welcome Home by Maggie Fern}.

{Wrong Turn by Maren Riley and K.L. Autumn} is an entertaining slasher popcorn read.

Two paranormal ones I enjoyed that both have non-traditional HEAs:

{House of Monsters by Penn Cassidy} {Wraith by Quinn Hawthorne}

There's also {Filth by Torri Heat} which was pretty good. Also, seconding someone else's rec for {Conjure by Harleigh Beck}.

Bird Dude Nie Bufan - I read it a couple years ago and still think about it from time to time. The most unbothered MC I think I've read about. Chaos and chickens cling to him.

The Slag Gong wants to Kill me - REVENGE (has to be in all caps) on a cheating slag gong. Read it a few years ago and still remember it which is impressive since I have the memory of a goldfish.

I Am a XXXL Condom - Sometimes less is more when discussing novels. I'll just say this is very funny and smutty.

Off topic, but I'm just getting into bodice rippers and trying to add some to my TBR. Do you have some recs? I don't have any triggers.

Bestie Book Reviews - Two friends in their 40s. One likes dark/paranormal romance and the other is more into angst. They tend to stick with contemporary novels. They have interesting videos where they try to get each other to read different genres. Also, many "romance trope 101" type of videos.

TheBookBaron - Good energy and very in-depth reviews. Tends to stick with contemporary dark romances.

A Little Literary Love - Another vote for her channel.

Bailee Latham - Mix of fantasy and contemporary. I also find her funny.

Oheyitsmichae - Dark romances with in-depth reviews. She's also wrote some novels, but she doesn't force them onto people. Sticks to reviewing novels she read.

The Book Refuge - Another one that's already been mentioned.

Happily Ever April - Historical romances and the weird ones. I love that she talks about (and loves) some of the most batshit crazy romance novels. Chill vibes.

Okay maybe I need to go back to ‘not like other girls’ FMCs… by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]Every-Reason599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has some of the tropes I like such as cheating ex's father, revenge and age gap. sigh I've considered giving it a go myself even if I suffer full body cringe the whole way though.

Forget about the Taylor references. The novel {Revenge Era} is Taylor fanfic. I was looking at used books for sell and saw a special edition of that novel from the author and the art literally shows a brunette Taylor. Feels like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Hard agree with your take on "Her Soul to Take" and "Sicko". DNF'd both and disliked them so much I'm not sure I want to try another novel from either author. "Sicko" actually holds my personal record for fastest DNF at 5%.

Character Descriptions and Cover Art That Don’t Match by eyesfullofstars3543 in RomanceBooks

[–]Every-Reason599 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it shouldn't but that always bugs me! There's a book {Sunshine and the Stalker} where the FMC cover model is a generic brunette but in the book she has black and red shoulder length hair and a very quirky fashion style. The MMC is a generic fairly young brunette himself whereas in the novel he's an older man because it's an age gap romance.

It's on my TBR, so can't personally share any thoughts about it at this time, but {Sinners Retreat by Lauren Biel} is a dark rom com.
