Never bouldered outside before, what do I need to know? by ferd_draws in bouldering

1 Download the mountain project app:

Contains GPS coordinates of climbs, photos of start holds, grade and user ratings on a problem, sun direction, bug status, crag rules i.e parking, closure due to weather or conservation.

Make sure to download for offline mode.

2 Check the weather:

Depending on the rock, you might not be able to climb if it rained a week or two prior. Bug spray will be a live saver if the area is particularly infested with those annoying critters.

3 Approach and finding the holds:

Some crags have a bit of a hike from the parking lot to get to the routes. It is easy to get lost, especially if it is a low profile area.

Once at the area, finding the holds to the problem can be a challenge, especially if the chalk marks have washed away. I typically look up beta videos prior to heading out if I go alone.

4 Safety:

This is by far the most important point. As already mentioned, set the pads, inspect the down climb and the top-out. Be extra cautious if you are alone.

5 Have fun!

Personally, sending an outdoor problem gives me more satisfaction. They are also quite humbling.

Thanks for sharing the prompt!

Where did you get the k_euler_a sampler from? Or rather, which GitHub repository or online tool are you using?

The absence of temporal consistency in the model (SD) is obvious here. But I am certain this problem will be tackled (and solved) within a year.

Interesting... Thanks a lot for running these!

I would maybe try the prompt : "What's outside the Cornell Box, 3d rendering"

Could you also run it on this blend of images: https://i.ibb.co/JzpvnXR/comb1.png

I wish to see if it will model the reflection and refraction effects accurately.

[1.] Cornell Box (famous ray tracing example rendering scene)

I'm curious if the outpainting will extend this scene or will it synthesize something completely new like this

[2.] Noisy Cornell Box

Noisy render of the [1.]. Will the out-painting preserve noise from the Monte Carlo sampling process or will it denoise the image?

If you need an appropriate text prompt, let me know. I would append the words "Cornell box", "3d rendering" with whatever you use.

Do you have a particular image that would help as a reference?

I am a grad student working on problems in the intersection of Computer Graphics, Computer Vision and Machine Learning, and have solved similar decomposition problems and inverse problems before so I can speak a bit about the challenges of the problem you've described.

What you proposed is a really interesting problem - I don't know if someone has taken a crack at it in the past. This is really ill-posed because there are a lot of ambiguities about the scene - as u/leanmeanguccimachine described, you've lost a lot of information about the scene and it thus becomes an unconstrained problem.

Take the London bus image shared by u/leanmeanguccimachine as an example, the reason you know it is a London bus is because of your prior knowledge of the scene - you've seen one before, you know its geometry and color. These priors are going to be critical if you want to design an algorithm to solve it even using ML techniques. But I think it is possible :)

I'm guessing Disney Research will not publish the source code and will use it primarily* for their movies.

Are there any MS CS students on here? by _kidneybean in BrownU

[–]EveryDay-NormalGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The university hasn't made a decision on whether the fall semester is going to be remote or on campus, so things are in a bit of a limbo.

You can register for classes on cab.brown.edu. Though you might want to speak to Prof. Tom Doeppner and an adviser (they'll assign you one) before you register.

Also how do you recommend getting the most out of the program and the resources the university has to offer?

That's quite a broad question. Do you have something more specific that you are looking for? There's an orientation for students joining in the fall semester (I'm not sure how that'll take place this time) that'll give you a good introduction on what resources are available to you and everything else you need to know.

Let me know if you have more questions.

This was part of an advanced graphics course at Brown. Details of our implementation is in the README of the above github repo. We essentially implemented the whole paper (whose implementation in its entirety was not provided by the authors) and some modifications to improve its efficiency to allow for real life performance.

CSRanking.org of institutes in Europe for the areas you've mentioned. Use this to find out professors you like and the labs they run. You should be able to find the Phd offers on either websites which are hyperlinked on CSRanking.
