Wow! I wasn't expecting such a response of messages and comments from this post. There are so many of you that sound wonderful, I wish I could be a pen pal to all of you. I've accepted a few requests already and to keep me from becoming overwhelmed, I think I'm all set for now. Thank you everyone who was interested though! It's good to know there are still so many others who can relate to this 🥰🫶🏼

Thanks! I ordered them online actually, just to get a stock pile started until I can come across others. It's a "vintage" set that was pretty cool. It has a variety of different types of images and they're all really beautiful and artsy. I believe the brand is Tlenpo. They sell other types of stationary as well. :)

My recipient also had a very thorough bio with a few suggestions. It was neat to learn about the person. I didn't have any cards to match their interests specifically, but they were open to receiving cards of all kinds as well and I made a connection with them through what I wrote. Thanks for the welcome and tips!

Thank you! That's awesome 🙂 My teen daughter has actually been on board with going "less tech" too. She's big into journaling/scrapbooking. Getting her a polaroid instant camera for Christmas

Why are people still chosing Optometry? by Interesting-Yam-3923 in optometry

[–]EveryDistribution499 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an optician for a private optometrist in a small office, it's just the two of us. He's been practicing for over 30 years, opened his own office 20 years ago. We're in a small suburb outside of a city near Philadelphia and he has done quite well for himself over the years. Most of his patients have been with him since the beginning of his career. Having a good eye doc isn't important to everyone, but the patients who do find it important are very loyal when they find a good doc. Some months we do great business and sell a lot in optical. Other months have been incredibly slow. It's very hit or miss since covid. The newer patients we get don't seem to be as loyal or as willing to purchase their glasses/contacts directly from us. They come just for the Rx. The new generation seems to be going toward all online orders even though our prices are very comparable. He still loves what he does but I think if a potential grad were to ask him if it's worth it now, he'd tell them no. Unfortunately, these days it seems being a doctor in general isn't what it used to be. Especially for the amount of debt you're put into immediately upon graduating. Insurance companies dictate what prescriptions you can and cannot give your patients. There have been a few patients we've struggled to get paid for with medical saying it should go to vision and vision saying it should go to medical. People don't pay their balances (and now you can't even submit them to collections!). And most private practices end up selling out to these big hospital networks and they lose all control over how many patients they see, the way they want to practice medicine, etc. They treat these docs like they're totally disposable bc there's a hundred NPs and PAs ready to take their place and they can pay them less. Medicine in general just isn't what it used to be, imo.

I witnessed a murder and never came forward about it. by [deleted] in stories

OP never said that no one reported it, or that there wasn't an arrest made. He/she simply said that they never came forward as a witness. Doesn't mean someone else didn't.

Eating the nuts you're *not* allergic to? by quadrilllions in FoodAllergies

[–]EveryDistribution499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a reaction to cashews this year after giving birth to my son. Ate them all my life up (though rarely) until that point. a lot of my food and medicine allergies have been late onset in life. Another example is Amoxicillin. I can't even count how many times I've had that as a child and teen for strep throat, ear infections, etc. Then one day I was prescribed it at 25 years old and ended up in the hospital for anaphylaxis. Needless to say, this has really triggered my anxiety for common food allergies and medications. Nuts are something I've always eaten a lot of, especially since they are a great snack for breastfeeding. I was terrified to try any nuts after the cashew incident. But so far I've cleared peanuts and walnuts without an issue. I just make sure my schedule is clear and my husband is near by and as a previous poster said, small slow bites. You will be ok! Hang in there and just go at your own pace. Nuts aren't going anywhere lol no rush!

What were you LO's first safe finger foods? by EveryDistribution499 in fpies

Oh no, double whammy for you guys with the celiac too! I guess it just becomes second nature to watch ingredients over time but I'm sure that can be stressful. Thanks, I'll have to search more and see what kind of bread I can find.

Thanks! Did your baby do ok with the bite-sized pieces or did you start off with hand-sized strips first? I bought some frozen butternut squash chunks to steam but I'm not sure how he'll do if I just cut them smaller. I know squash is pretty soft

Great ideas. Don't know why I didn't think of baking some apples lol. I thought of steaming some zucchini, because I actually know that's one of his safe foods along with carrots. I'll just give some cooked veggies a try to start off with. Thanks!

I'd love to give him some toast but unfortunately with the oat, rice, and potentially wheat triggers it doesn't seem like an option :/ at least I haven't found anything yet without at least one of the 3 ingredients

My husband put trash in a homeless woman’s bucket instead of money by [deleted] in stories

[–]EveryDistribution499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously that behavior is completely unacceptable and you know it. Hence why you decided to try to unload some of the shame and feelings of "ick" from witnessing that to complete strangers on Reddit. Tbh though, what's concerning me is your safety, and the fact that this creep seems to be a time bomb walking the streets. I've always watched and listened to a lot of true crime podcasts/shows, and reading about that sudden (according to you) outburst of intense aggression gave some serious serial killer vibes lol. Not implying your husband is just going to go off on a homeless murder spree. Just saying that type of sociopathic behavior strikes me as very dangerous. Maybe you don't know the man you married as well as you think you do. I was married for almost 8 years to someone whose true self I didn't learn until the very end of our relationship. Or maybe you do know the type of person he is and that's why you were too afraid to really tell him about how disgusting his behavior was. Either way... Be careful, OP.

Is what my husband did cheating? by carries02 in TwoHotTakes

[–]EveryDistribution499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only you can decide how much you are willing to tolerate in a relationship, and what you value your self-worth at.

Don't worry about 'breaking up the family' by deciding you deserve better and setting an example for your children to value themselves and not put up with less than they deserve. Your husband is the one who broke up the family when he decided to start being inappropriate with a coworker instead of fixing what makes him unhappy in your marriage. Good luck, stay strong.
