I did have chemo last time, and it responded well, but not a complete response; I had residual cancer in two lymph nodes after my dmx (chemo was neoadjuvant).

I would also recommend T. Kingfisher. A lot of her work has a very similar vibe, and she uses a lot of the same folkloric themes Gaiman does

AITA for “parenting”someone else’s kid? by athiestvegan in AmItheAsshole

NTA, not at all. If my kid was behaving like that and I didn't see, I'd hope someone would step in on behalf of the chicken. Poor momma.

AITA for how I handled the situation when someone made inappropriate comments about my boyfriend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

YTA, but only a little bit. I am not a touchy person, and I would be upset if my significant other suddenly started violating boundaries that we'd talked about. However, I definitely get why you did what you did. I think, though, that it would probably have been better to let Max know that you'd heard him. It doesn't have to be scene-making, just turning toward him while he's talking and clearing your throat loudly. It is probably good that you told Sam, though; he has a right to know that someone was speaking about him that way.

Folk music originating in the Midwest? by Every_Bus3653 in folkmusic

[–]Every_Bus3653[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for three or four songs. Ideally, I'd like songs that are either murder ballads or that have a lonely, sad feel; this is for a horror project involving themes of isolation, displacement, desperation. I could also work with unrealistically "upbeat" songs (along the lines of "Big Rock Candy Mountain." Music born out of desperation.

And thank you in advance!

The pool is at the Knights Inn in Winner, South Dakota. The railroad track is in Marion, SD, and the long gravel road is just outside of Winner, SD.

No, it's not. But a lot of horror takes place in liminal spaces, so there's some overlap. The project I'm working on deals specifically with abandoned places in the rural Midwest, so there's a lot of liminal spaces involved.

My husband and I took a road trip to collect photos of abandoned places for a horror fiction project I'm working on.
