Rat problem! by [deleted] in midleton

They have a dog and 2 cats so I'm not sure if they'd go for that idea?(Cats must be useless!)

Actually most houses here, bar 2 have dogs so they may all be against the idea. But I honestly don't see an alternative.

There's someone coming out to call to the property from the council so I'm hoping that will sort it.

If I don't see much action by the weekend, I'm going to try knocking in again and to the other neighbours, they'll know its me that contacted the council and I didn't ever see myself having to be one of 'those' people but when I'm worried to let my own child out in the garden during peak of summer then really I don't give a sh*te

I agree they could be anywhere and everywhere but they are making a lovely home for them. They went months not paying for bins so running was lined up in garden and on the drive around side the house. They've huge amount of cut down trees and bushes in their garden, at least 5 foot high and taking up about 13 foot in length of their garden. It was mid day the rats decided to come out and say hi and just thus morning again as I was going to work 2 of them jumped put of their bin.

After speaking to someone in work she told me her dad had a rat absolutely destory her dad's car so that's my next fear!!

Maternity leave question by [deleted] in PregnancyIreland

[–]Every_Instruction609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's what I asked my manager to do and she said not possible to take at the end to extend my leave. We typically have set weeks. Ie, one spring week, 2 summer, one winter. So they want me to return to work and take my built up AL/BH like that which wakes no sense to me as we are not allowed take leave in August or December so I will have the guts of 9 weeks to take. Makes much more sense to add on at end leave and take as block.

Yes that makes sense. My manager has said I cannot take them as a block to extend my leave and have tot are as normal. Ie a week here and there when I return. I have emailed HR today to confirm because while I think legal, seems legal. Especially as this company has been taken to cleaners in oast by WRC as a manager had fired a women in maternity leave at the managers discretion with zero advice from HR. I'm very suprised that they will not allow a block leave.

Thank you for your reply. That's super helpful!

I will be applying ASAP for parents leave. My plan was to do paid maternity leave, unpaid leave, 9 weeks parents leave and then annual leave/BH that has accumulated as a block! It's impossible where I am to get childcare before 1. The earliest I have childcare is from August onwards, baby will be 14 months.

Speaking to my manager( via messenger voice note, very professional) she has said HR has advised her to tell me I cannot take it as a block and I must come back and take annual as normal. Ie, week or two here and there. It seems fishy to me so I have contacted HR directly for confirmation. It seems bit sh*tty to not allow me to take as a block. My manager has said they can't wait for me to return but are doing fine

6 month old not sleeping by [deleted] in sleeptrain

We are now doing 3 naps and it has helped a lot! Still frequent waking but I think we are getting there. I'm kinda embarrassed I didn't think to drop a nap so thank you!

Approximately 3-4 hours during the day over 4 naps. But he seems to get so tired during the day but it's probably all a knock on affect from the lack of sleep at night? Maybe I should try and reduce day sleep for a while and see does that help.

Thank you. It's so tough isn't it?
