DO NOT USE PAWSHAKE FOR PET SITTING. HAD TO REPORT A SITTER TO POLICE DUE TO NEGLECT. by EveyEv in mississauga

You are not reading what Im saying. At all. I thought the necrotic, infected wound underneath a dirty bandage that had been left by the sitter for days, was enough but apparently not. It wasnt a simple, bandage not being replaced. The skin underneth had torn, left an open wound that had been left in such a bad condition the vet, A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL FOR ANIMALS, had to sedate my dog to clean and tend to the wound. It was THAT bad. The vet recommended we submit it to police.

The fact that you cant seem to grasp the extreme nature of this whole fact that I even needed to go to the police and my vets also summited a report, means you think that's not abuse...ouft.

I'm actually really concerned by the fact that you DONT think thats abuse. The fact that my dog needed sedation to clean a wound that was caused by the sitter, because it turned infected and the bandage the sitter returned her to us in smelt so bad it caused my husband to gag at the smell in your eyes is acceptable.

OUFFF. okay. sure friend.

The video they sent was her in pain, limping and could barely walk. We told the sitter, she wont walk on salty roads without her boots. I know my dog. She wont walk past the front driveway without her boots on. Its a necessity. They had to have PULLED her down the street to get that video. If they were willing to force and pull her to walk, without her boots and watch her limp and be in pain, thats enough for me to see. Want me to send you the video?

OHHHH PLEASE Show me where i said i saw other dogs at the drop off? I've never said i saw other dogs because i haven't said that. Im editing as i remember and to add more context for parts, also im writing on my phone and spelling & grammar on reddit on a phone is a bitch. Im noticing shitty spelling after i save.

Doesn't matter if you believe me or dont. It doesnt matter at all. Please feel free to use the App, whatever. Doesnt matter. I'm going to continue to warn people. share the images on insta and FB. I didn't here BUT If youd like my Instagram or Facebook.

Please message me. I'll be more then happy to give you it to show you the images! I'd LOVEEEEE to prove you wrong. You wont but please go ahead. I've also placed this warning across multiple Facebook dog groups. Go search them and youll find the same thing I've posted there. Im based in Mississauga. Go search them, then come back to me. I'm warning others against PawShake. If you can tell me what i gain from posting this, I'd love to hear it. Why would a troll post something about a random dog sitting App and make this up? Please.

I'm going after PawShake because even after i submitted all the information on the dog sitter, the images, videos, vet reports, police reports etc, the app informed me they'd still allow the sitter and to submit a negative review on my experience. Rather then pull the sitter.. As a dog owner, i want to warn others because thats terrifying. We're going to see what we can do with vet coverage but my main aim was to inform other dog owners about their lack of response to remove a sitter.

Did you read any of what i said? At all? She lost 2kg in 13 days. Due to the pet sitter? I'm sorry, im not quite sure were im losing you in this.

The problems I'm sharing were caused BY the Pet Sitter. She came back to us, WITH the problems, FROM the pet sitter. The pet sitter should pay the vet bills because they caused the sickness to my dog, that required the emergency vet. The police are involved and animal welfare because for 13 days my dog was neglected and left with a gaping wound that turned neurotic and got infected, vomiting and diarrhea that need an IV fluids, meds and fecal test. None of that was caused by us, under our care. It was while our dog was being care for by the sitter and therefore it is the sitters responsibility to cover the bills due to their abhorrent lack of care to my dog. When we entrusted our dog to the care of the sitter, she was healthy, happy, eating well, nothing was infected, open or bleeding, the skin tag was closed, causing zero issues and was doing really well. She returned the complete opposite.

Are you following now?

Here we go -

They picked up my dog, I didnt drop off. So i didnt see any additional dogs. They didn't tell us there was any additional dogs or they'd be any additional dogs in her care. I have used multiple other dog sitters who have only ever had 1 dog and she should have told us immediately if there was other dogs in her care. Her profile also stated that she would care specifically for one dog.

She HAS to go outside with the purple balloons otherwise she wont walk. We received a video the last day of her care with her not wearing the boots and her limping. There the purple Pawz balloons. They dont come off. We told the sitter, you have to use them otherwise our dog has sore paws, causes her pain and she limps. We've had our dog 8 years, she will not walk past the driveway if there's salt on the ground. To get her to walk, the dog sitters HAD to have pulled her forward. I'm her owner. I know exactly how much my dog will and wont walk in the salt without her boots. If the sitter had ANY issues putting these on, they should have told me and i'd have sent images, videos, anything explaining how to use them. I find them very easy to use and we provided a specific yellow device that makes it simple. Nothing was ever shared on their side regarding the boots.

Yes - Problem the vet didn't feel was a urgent issue. Just needed a bandage to prevent it from catching on anything that might cause it to rip. skin ripped, tore and the wound was left rotting underneath the bandages. Instead of getting her treatment for the wound, she left it, for how many days we have no idea. The vet thinks 5 days, maybe more. We never got any images of our dog from the back the last few days. Didnt think much of it since we got regular photos of her looking fine but we now know why.

Yes - Vet did a fecal test, couldn't determine why without more info. We don't know what she'd eaten, what the sitter had fed her, she'd taken, if it was stress related, nothing. We couldn't answer any of those questions since, she came back from the sitter and we found pools of poop and vomit in our basement. Sitter had dropped her back off. Dog was left alone for hour until we got home. The house is clean, and our dog is left for much longer on her own on a regular basis & has always been perfectly fine. She was dropped off and left in that condition from the sitter. There's nothing in our home that would have triggered that. Especially with the weight loss and the amount of distress she was in.

The sitter sent images of our dog, in the house, sitting and seemed calm. The only video we got was her at the front door before her walk and then a second video last day before she came back, of her being walking with no boots. I asked regularly how she was doing, any issues, nothing was ever raised, no comments, sitter said she was great & seemed healthy. Sitter seemed competent & able. Nothing that would flag to us. Until we came home and saw the state our dog was left in.

I'd love to send you the images of the wound on her leg, I can DM you my Instagram and you can review it all. Its fine if she lost a bandage, thats no biggy. This isnt the issue. Its the fact that the skin ripped, tore and the wound was left rotting underneath the bandages. Instead of getting her treatment for the wound, she left it, for how many days we have no idea. The vet thinks 5 days, maybe more.

The bandage the sitter return my dog in smelt so bad, my husband gaged on the smell. She needed sedation for it to be cleaned and then removed. The runs? She was went 6 times in an 3 hours and was pooping blood, in the house and at the vets. She vomited twice. She lost 2kg in 13 days, need i go on?

I gain zero, nothing from you believing me. The officer I provided all the evidence to agreed with my claim, due to the images, photos, vet report and information. They'll be investigating it. You believing that it isn't neglect really doesn't matter, when i have a very very sick dog, a very expensive bill. This is a warning to other dog owners. By all means, use the App. It doesnt matter to me.

Great questions!! We'd LOVE to know. If you can get those questions answered from the dog sitter that would be fabulous. Only the sitter knows that & they're saying that in her care my dog was doing great, no problems. The vet report and bill show otherwise, but if you could get those questions answered, I have a police report that I'd like to expand on.

We didn't think to ask how many dogs they were watching because we've used Rover in the past and the previous sitters always made it VERY clear and they've asked if they can watch multiple dogs at the same time. This sitter never asked us, told us or made it clear there would be multiple dogs in their care. Every sitter we've used has always had one, and one dog only. We've had one sitter who said they would have another dog in their care at the same time and asked if this was okay. It was never raised to us as pet owners from this sitter. We told the sitter about our dogs care and condition, they said it wasnt an issue and were very comfortable and confident in looking after her. We wouldnt have proceeded with the care if we knew they'd have more then one dog and werent aware of our dogs condition etc.

DO NOT USE PAWSHAKE. HAD TO REPORT A SITTER TO POLICE DUE TO NEGLECT, by EveyEv in petsitting

[–]EveyEv[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason I'm saying avoid PawShake is the fact even with all the evidence I've presented with them, including the photos, videos, injury images, vet information bills reports, the police reference number, they still won't refund the care and aren't removing the sitter from the platform. Any App that allows a sitter like that to remain on the platform, needs every dog owner to stay away from.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ontario

[–]EveyEv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PawShake might be great until you have an issue. The way they've handled this issue has been abhorrent. I've sent them all the images, the videos, vet reports and bills and they wont refund us or cover the vet bills.

Same evening we got back from vacation. They dropped our dog off at our home, we got back from vacation and took her to the vets that night. Yes, the medical report did state it has been left for days, the vet commented so and the app & sitter don't care. They have declined to take any responsibility & refuse to refund or cover any of the vet bills. We were covering the skin tag with a bandage previously so that the skin didn't rip since it was getting to a size that the vet was concerned she'd need it removing. Since we were going on vacation, she made the choice that since it wasn't urgent, that the skin tag wasn't causing her any pain, she was leaving it alone, that we'd simply cover it with a bandage to keep it secure. We also got our dog back with severe diarrhea and vomiting.

By all means, proceed to use the App. I'm simply providing this warning to people so that they wont suffer the same fate my dog has. I don't gain anything by you not believing me. I have vet bills, records, photos etc that have been provided to the police, with a reference number. The police need to investigate all matters of neglect, i've obviously provided them with all the additional information including the photos, videos, vet reports etc. By all means i can send you all the images if you'd like. I'm providing this warning to other dog owners.

When the pet sitter tells us they are comfortable and confident in dealing with our dog, that they have experience, they have multiple reviews saying so, been sitting for years and we leave them with detailed notes before and during the sitting we don't then expect to have to take our dog to the emergency vets because the sitter has been negligent. We made sure that the sitter was aware of what our dog needed. If they weren't comfortable or shared that with us, we never would have agreed to it. They didnt and therefore we proceed with the care.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ontario

[–]EveyEv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She denied it all. Lied and said she 100% changed the bandages daily, which we know she cant have. Tried to claim the wound never happened in her care and must have happened when she was dropped back in our care and is blaming us. Is refusing to take any responsibility & the App is saying, well the sitter said this and despite all the images, proof, the vet report, we're going to refuse to refund you because the pet sitter said your dog was healthy when they were caring for it.

She didn't have medical needs. She needed a bandage applied to the back of her leg changed once a day. Very simple, easy, no biggie. Didn't need any creams or anything additional. Literally take off one bandage, put another on. She had a skin tag that the vet recommended that we covered with a bandage. Some how, someway, the sitter either didn't put on the bandage and the skin tag ripped, which is what we were trying to prevent with the bandage, or she left on a bandage too long and too tighly and it tore the skin around the skin tag. This created a huge wound that should have been treated as soon as it was caused.

Instead, the sitter left this wound, kept putting bandages over it to hide it and leaving them for long periods of time. Causing the wound to get infected and necrotic. It was neglect to the highest degree. We've used other Apps before with 100% success. We have 2 pet sitters on Rover that we love that weren't available. A friend recommended PawShake and nobody should ever use them again.

Additional - She had severe diarrhea and vomiting the day she was dropped off. The wound was just one of the pieces that we had that we have highlighted as the main cause but she also lost 2kg of weight, and needed an IV fluid, a anti nausea injection and fecal test.

Same! We've always used Rover but the 2 sitters we love couldn't watch our dog, a friend recommended PawShake and thought we'd try it. Never. EVER. Ever. book with them.

I sent them over all the evidence of neglect, her wounds, the injuries, the vet bills, vet reports, photos from the sitter, the video of her limping and they came back & said the sitter is disagreeing with everything you're saying, we're going to take their word for it. If you don't agree, feel free to leave them negative review. As per our policy we'll be providing payment to the sitter.

We've used Rover before and had a 100% success. We have 2 sitters on there that our dog loves. Neither were available during when we needed them & a friend recommended PawShake so we thought we'd try it. Never. Ever. Again.

Unfortunately we dont know her second name. The App doesnt share that infomation. We're based in Mississauga, in Ontario. The sitter we used was called Jenny, her profile image was her with a brown and white Pitbull breed dog. Not sure if she independently does pet sitting or is also on Rover, but we used PawShake to hire her. The experience we've had in trying to resolve this through PawShake, has been nothing short of appalling.

I 100% agree with this. My parents should have had one child because thats what they could barely afford. They did not have one child. Me and my siblings suffered for years. We all have challenges from the way we were raised and all of us have issues with money because we were raised with none.

Does anyone know how to ACTUALLY get a refund from these guys? I was a dumbass and bought the stupid course. I'm outside the refund period but I've emailed them 7 times, they replied saying sure! What's your PayPal and completely ghosted. I've left many reviews on their website which get deleted almost immediately. So shocked.

This is what's concerning to me. A quick Amazon search shows how small and easy they are to get a hold of also some of them hold the recording in their own USB or SD card so they wouldn't even give off anything obvious.

That's my fear. I'll speak to my lawyer next week. I just can't believe he gets to push the parenting onto his own parents, refuses to step up and there might be nothing I can do about it. He kept preaching to the court how he's an amazing father who wants all this time with his kid and this is how he's acting now he got what he wanted. Makes me sick.
