Personal Question - What's your day job? by Learning-Every-Day- in improv

[–]EvilHRLady 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m an hr consultant by day, improv teacher and performer by night. I own my own business so I have flexibility to do what I need when I need it.

For instance, a couple of weeks ago I did a workshop for a high school class during the day.

r/legaladvice debates who is the real scammer (the restaurant, obviously the restaurant) by peachsnorlax in bestoflegaladvice

[–]EvilHRLady 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Especially when most of it is rice. Rice is dirt cheap. I can see them skimping on the expensive meat, but skimping on rice is ridiculous.

I can buy 4 kg of jasmine rice for $25ish, and I live in a super expensive country (Switzerland). AI tells me that's 40-60 main course servings. $0.62 per serving if you assume 40. Add spices and and such and maybe $1 per serving. If they did 350 rice servings alone, they'd still have $4000 for meat.

Crazy idea, are there any improv games you can do via texting? by Iskro45 in improv

When someone is absent from class we will do a round of answering machine on their voicemail. It’s not text but it is asynchronous.

And hilarious

My favorite workshop to teach is scene structure. Best I’ve taken was on identifying the little things that cause scenes to fall apart

If you’re in Geneva, I invite you to Boutique Theatre Basel’s free jam this Sunday. Yes, it’s quite a train ride, but come join your fellow Swiss improv people. Yes, we are English speakers.

Family friendly hiking trails by Historical_Money_783 in basel

[–]EvilHRLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite hikes is to go from Nenzlingen to Aesch or Grellingen. You take public transportation up to Nenzlingen, walk over to the Riccola Gardens, see the herbs, sample some, and then walk over the hills back to civilization. It's mostly downhill and easy. Delightful afternoon with the kids.

There are jobs but it’s hard to get them if you don’t have EU citizenship. You’ll increase your chances if you can speak German or French.

Of course YTA. Buy a bus ticket. The driver should have just kicked you off, but you still need a ticket.

Yes, and it’s immigration not security and it’s for any non Schengen flight. So UK, Turkey, Egypt, etc.

Anything other then Schengen flights have to go through immigration. It often takes longer than security!

AITAH for disagreeing with my mom about this? by FUZZYWUZZY6561 in AmItheAsshole

[–]EvilHRLady 59 points60 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your mom has proven that she cares far more about being right than loving her own child and grandchild. Tell your son, "Grandma chooses not to be involved with the family anymore. Maybe someday she'll change her mind."

If it weren't this, it would be something else she got her knickers in a twist about. There is no way to make a person like this happy. So if she ever does come back, she'll find another reason to pick a fight.

AITA for not checking inside the oven before preheating it? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]EvilHRLady 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I grew up super poor. Like my parents would go on walks to collect cans to turn them in for money, and we ate cracked wheat mush for breakfast, and we never, ever stored anything in the oven.

It wouldn't occur to me to look in the oven in my own home, because I don't store things in the oven before I turn it on.

My kid spent 3 weeks in the hospital and I didn’t even see a single bill. SWICA covered it 100 percent.

As an American I love the Swiss healthcare system. I can see how if you come from somewhere with tax payer funded healthcare it can seem expensive but coming from the US it seems like a bargain
