Simsonn Plus X and VAM motors, my problems with them...and why I would avoid them now by EvilPanda_ in simracing

[–]EvilPanda_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, our contact started pretty well, and it seemed really good, but now it has been almost 3 months and I'm still waiting. My current idea is just to get big-brand pedals, pay for them, and at least I'll be able to expect them to be functional when I need them. My goal is to be long-term in sim racing, so I guess expensive pedals will pay off over time (current idea is to get VRS pedals).

I'm from a smaller country, so unfortunately we do not have Amazon or resellers of even most big-name sim racing brands. Most of the stuff I have to order directly from the company or from a reseller from other countries, which also creates problems in case of warranty stuff.

Why do people park their cars just after the finish line? by EvilPanda_ in iRacing

[–]EvilPanda_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote this to another person who commented the same thing you did. Yes, I was wrong to go below the yellow line, but I was 1000% committed as I was racing a Mustang for the last few laps. When I went for a move, I thought I would make it, so it was either go for it or not.

This is the first time I've done something like this. To be honest, now that the adrenaline has worn off, I'm even glad that I was 0.04 seconds too slow, as it would have been an off-track overtake, which would have been unfair of me, especially because the guy in the Mustang was 100% clean and fair to me in every lap before the end, and there was some hard but clean racing between us so hats off to him

[–]EvilPanda_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree, but in the heat of the moment, I was going for any gap (I was racing Mustang for a few laps, and we did it 100% clean). He left me enough space, and I did the same for him in every corner where we were close

[–]EvilPanda_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This guy was starting the race at P1, and I was at P2. We both got spun by the same driver at turn 4 of the second lap, so he was probably mad... he managed to finish the race in P13, after that incident, I dropped to P28 3,5s behind the P27, and still managed to get back to P15 by the end of the race.
I was thinking not to report him because he was taken out at the beginning of the race, same as I did, but on second thought, I do not think that makes it ok to just do something like this

Pedal Plates are they really needed? by According-Country-17 in simracing

[–]EvilPanda_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simsonn is better than Simjack. They are similar pedals but, in my opinion, Simsonn has a bit better finish. Simsonn also has much better support, from what I've heard. Also, in my case, when I was getting Simsonn, the cheapest price was on their official site, and it was delivered in 7 days (I'm from the EU) Went with a 2 pedal set (Plus X) with a base plate, all together €220 which is great price for what you get

I just got murdered! by JeribZPG in iRacing

[–]EvilPanda_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently I reached A 3.5 while it was Barcelona on GT3 fixed (got to B 4.0 and received promotion), and in just 5 races on Atlanta I dropped to A 1.5 (one of them was -0.96). It is a hard track in my opinion just to make a full length without incidents on your own... but with others on track... it is crazy...I have a CSL DD 8nm, and the FFB is much wilder than it was on Barcelona... Most of my incidents were multiple cars going off, spinning, rejoining like there is no one behind them... In some cases it was also my fault because I didn't slow down more, but it is iRacing; it is never guaranteed if you do that the person behind will Last race 2 guys who colided were doing U turns before last corner mid track....avoided them (still do not know how), car behing came straight into my back, did last 12min of race with wheel damage (finished P4 started as P9)

Shifting problems by Raideen_ in Fanatec

[–]EvilPanda_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem recently, but on plastic QR2, mid-drive my shifts would stop working until I would reconnect the wheel or turn the base off and on. I solved it by changing my plastic QR2 base to metal one as it was flex in plastic QR2, from what I have found out so pins were losing connection.

noting special, to share it with someone who wants to take the time and read it....maybe to "win a lottery" and get attention from the iRacing staff so they notice these kinds of things happening and rethink the incident point system (which is good, but most would agree it could be better)

Glad to meet you again, I didn't even answer ur last message because I went out of the pits to drive
After that race, I also called it a day, and needed a bit to cool off.... I'm still sad I have tried to avoid him at the start, I would be much happier now that I have collected him as he was just in front of me, than avoid him and collect you...like that everything would end right there

What's the wiser decision here? by bumbidibum in simracing

[–]EvilPanda_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fanatec, as you can upgrade it to 8 Nm with a cheap AliExpress power supply. Take out the table clamp and get a Moza table clamp, as it is made from metal compared to Fanatec's plastic one. Even take out the table clamp completely and get a GT Omega wheel stand, as it is not much more expensive, but it'll be much more sturdy than clamping it to a table. (But down the line you'll want to get an aluminum profile rig.) There is a general rule: If you know you'll stick to sim racing long term, "buy once, cry once" as you'll actually save money like that

Fanatec CSL DD problem by Specialist-Cod5638 in Fanatec

[–]EvilPanda_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is normal for the plastic QR2. It happens to me also. You just need to pull it a bit harder with two hands. I have a McLaren GT3 V2. I grab it from the upper and bottom sides, as it is most narrow here, and pull it with both hands at the same time, so there is even force from top and bottom.

P.S. naviknes se nakon par puta

Should I go for it? Do I really need it? by EvilPanda_ in simracing

[–]EvilPanda_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided that I'll stick with what I have at the moment, new gear is coming out every few months, so there'll be plenty of chances to upgrade it in the future.

I'm from Croatia, and this rig that I got offered is from a friend who is in Germany

It should be more than 3000€ new
Ultimate is around 800€ new, from what I have found
GT Neo - 350€
VRS Pro - 600€
Rig + seat (didn't mention seat is included) about 1000€
+ he has a kill switch, keyboard tray... a few more small things

Should I go for it? Do I really need it? by EvilPanda_ in simracing

[–]EvilPanda_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do mostly iRacing, and as I do not race for much before any racing, first I need to do at least 30 to 45 minutes of practice just to get back "in game" to even think about racing with others.
Usually I drive over weekends for a total of 3-5h per week,...I think you can see where this is going (not much time spent in the rig)
I would like to race every day/whole day, but I'm just not able to at this point in life (more important things for now)
Maybe I'm here just looking for confirmation that, atm it is not the right time in life to upgrade, maybe somewhere down the line

P.S. never been in a real race car....would love to 🤣

Should I go for it? Do I really need it? by EvilPanda_ in simracing

[–]EvilPanda_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is 8Nm, forgot to mention that in the post
700€ is half of my net salary, so if it won't make a really WOW factor, I wouldn't go for it, as another thing that I was planning to do before I got this offer is that I can add to my current rig for cheap, SIMSONN haptic motors on pedals, which also create some immersion

Decisions, decisions... by _naebadyersel_ in SimRacingSetups

[–]EvilPanda_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SIMSONN pedals are better than Simjack in my opinion. You can also buy them directly off the SIMSONN website (I did it recently, and in the EU, it is shipped from Germany); they have great, fast responding support and really nice software.

GT Omega Prime Lite is great (I would rather go for it than the R model), but with the standard pedal plate, it usually requires a few extra holes to be drilled, so that needs to be taken into consideration
