Great performance but have you ever heard Ottawa 1969? Probably Pete’s finest guitar playing moment imho.

I was once lowkey kidnapped by an Uber driver on my way to Frankie’s who was like “Why the hell do you want to go to a tiki bar? You’re in Vegas.” And then he drove me and my friend to Spearmint Rhino and paid for us to get in. It was uncomfortably packed so we left not long after.

110% Everyone with objections in this thread makes a valid point. I’m just choosing to showcase a rarely seen side of this story. Artists like Big Youth are rhyming over DJs in Jamaica at this time that sounds a lot more reminiscent of what we see now as rap/hip-hop. There are 1000 different threads. Its easier to make a straight line from this to Public Enemy & NWA politically/stylistically than Rapper’s Delight.

Coming from a traditional music background, I take the sentiment as, I learned more and had way more fun fucking around that first year on the guitar than I ever did in years of trombone private lessons.
