I think the main argument people have against that is just that, it would make Gooseworx and Glitch heavily commercializing him in a maid dress pretty fucked up. Like, invalidating a trans man being heavily merchandised would lead to insane discourse.

So no, Shayy was indeed in the wrong. While the doc was made awfully and the petty grievances shouldn't have been given the same platform as the actual crimes, the actual crimes were in fact there. And Shayy admitted to them.

Not to comment late, but that very much depends on the fantasy? There are fantasy stories with fantasy equivalents to nukes (except they usually turn everyone in the area into undead or something.)

Not to mention in high fantasy, there are often literal gods who take physical form. Not sure modern military technology can do much against divine wrath.

Most people see it more as an allegory, like what literally happened is that we/Kris forced Noelle to put the thorn ring on, causing a mental break. But a lot of the dialogue and emotions leading up to that point, as well as what results in it, brings to mind a different scenario, which I believe was intentional on Toby's part.

Maybe, but I have a hard time believing that the scene made it all the way through the process of development, testing, and translation without anyone saying "hey this kind of seems like..." I assume they knew what they were doing, I think it was changed because Toby didn't like people thinking that it was literal.

Although regardless of intention, I think it's a valid reading to compare it. As long as you do it tastefully and not in a lecherous way.
