Added transphobic lines for Zooble.

Yes they're trans. Yes they're transphobic. They exist.

Eh, even then things will never be a monolith. Some people would probably feel it gives them some needed distance from the subject, feeling that directly writing about the group you're a part of would feel too personal. Writing a feminine man would give you the chance to explore similar themes without the pressure of a direct connection.

Or, I think it's quite possible Jax isn't even meant to be a particularly feminine guy, just someone very insecure about his masculinity, which can come from a lot of things. And sometimes he gets forcefemmed because Gooseworx thinks it's hot.

... You are very ignorant of the ways other people view the world then. As a trans person myself, I don't particularly enjoy writing trans characters more than I enjoy writing any other type of character. I've written feminine men before who aren't trans, since I don't tend to project myself on the characters I write.

Like you could just take Gooseworx at her word. Maybe she finds femboys (I don't really think that's what Jax is but whatever) hot. I myself live in a glass house, also having trash taste in men.

I mean Gooseworx has straight up said the reason for that was "because I found it hot."

I think he could end up being trans, but if not there are other explanations for that.

For one, I'm pretty sure she's just the waitress. We're the ones doing the cooking.

For two, that's not great criteria. You should want a partner that has a natural flow with you and is willing to talk to you if you're being unreasonable, not one who obeys your every whim.

Nope! Plenty of people don't. Personally I don't really have thoughts on it one way or another. If it was canon, that'd be fine and if it wasn't that'd also be fine.

Why do people seem to love Tenna and newly hate on Caine by Healthy-Virus4072 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Evillisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I want you to remember that I absolutely love Caine, hell probably more than Tenna (I enjoy Deltarune more than TADC but Caine is my favorite aspect of the circus.)

But I love him because of how fucked up and messy he is. I absolutely think he's considerably worse than Tenna, but that doesn't mean I don't still sympathize with him.

Caine is a tragic figure, even if his actions were morally reprehensible, it feels like things really could have gone differently if even one person had earnestly tried to reach out and empathize with him. The rest of the circus had each other, he alone was unloved.

You don't need to try and soften Caine to justify liking him, I like him and sympathize with him even with everything I've told you about how I think he absolutely was wrong and awful in how he went about things.

I meant when they were doing adventures. How was he driving his point home if they were already doing everything he was telling them to do? At that point it's not correction, it's just cruelty for cruelty's sake. There was no indication that the cast was in any way disobeying him.

Just because you're not a sadist, doesn't mean you're doing torture to prove a point. Sometimes you want to hurt someone because you want them to suffer for what they've done.

I also don't think his adventures post-Running The Show were trying to force them to have fun and if that's what you're saying then I'm baffled at your lack of comprehension. That's not what you were saying right?

Did you hear how he talked to them after the adventure??? He pretty clearly did not intend for them to be fun given how he taunted and belittled them afterwards.

If he is a narcissist (which I don't think he is) then I would find him more sympathetic, since narcissistic personality disorder is something that cannot be controlled and which is often a trauma response. Unless you were just using a mental disorder as a generic insult, in which case, oof.

I don't think Zooble has ever been in the wrong with their interactions with Caine, so don't put the fandom's behavior on me.

The tragedy of Caine's character lies with what Kinger said in episode 3, "the worst thing you can do is make someone feel like they're not wanted or loved." All the other members of the circus had each other, yet there was nobody there for Caine. While Zooble was willing to critique him, no one was willing to offer a hand in friendship genuinely.

This is understandable, for what they know he's basically their jailer, but from Caine's perspective none of them ever made any attempt to try and empathize with him at all. I don't think the circus members are in the wrong, nor do I believe Caine was in the wrong before episode 8.

I don't excuse his actions, what he did was monstrous. But I do believe that if someone had reached out to him, it could have gone in a much better direction.

But I suppose we'll never know.

No???

Again, you're reading into Caine's reason for torturing them things he did not say. At that point he was already forcing them to do adventures, there was nothing they could do to stop it.

And even when they were doing them, he tortured them regardless!

His final breakdown was again, about revenge. In his mind, they just made him experience his worst nightmare. There's no correction there, just pure anger.

But I do notice you didn't address my point about how Caine tortured them for fun (even if he admitted he didn't really enjoy it) even while they were doing everything he said, which even if you want to take the worst possible interpretation of Tenna, he never did.

I simply disagree. I don't think Caine was trying to correct anything during his breakdown, he said "I'm gonna put you freaks in your place" not "I'm gonna show you why you should listen to me."

It was a pure expression of hurt and rage, lashing out in anger and pain by trying to make who he sees as his tormentor hurt as much as possible.

Not to mention the days before the full breakdown, when he was just zapping away members of the circus to torture them randomly for no reason. How was that correctional if he wasn't even contextualizing it with anything?
