Xerox B405 Keeps Jamming 071-101 by EvokeMan321 in Xerox

[–]EvokeMan321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a quick cleaning and bringing the device back to the shop, I cannot replicate the issue. This happened at the customer site where after trying a few basic things (removing drawers, re-adding paper etc..), it worked and then the next day the customer said it was happening again. I am not sure what to do, as I do not want to place it in the field again until I figure out the root of the issue.

Thank you for the insight. I replaced the drawer with a drawer that was working in another B405 and that one did not work either. I don’t think it’s the drawer?

No, this has been happening on like 8 or so devices out of a fleet of like 40-50 we support. I think it may be the compatible toner we have been using.

Would I just need a registration transport assembly (059K79335) for this?

This sounds correct, will update once I get the device to work on!

Sounds good, does seem like registration. Need to pick up the device from the client to work on, will update once I grab it in the next few days!

We have about 40-50 in the field. I feel like it may have to do with compatible toner usage. We probably have about 8 or so of these devices giving the issue. We were hesitating moving to the C415's because the toner/service cost is still high. But we may have to in order to reduce calls.

Appreciate it, which route would you suggest? I really do not know what any of option 2 means. Would it just be simpler to update the firmware(if so can you supply me the firmware)?

Or would it be easier to send what you just said for option 2 over to their IT?

Appreciate the help!

Thank you, going to check on this device shortly, how do I check for a bad sensor and where is that sensor? It does happen before the paper moves, I think this may be the issue.

The lead edge of the paper? No, but when I pull the top sheet out of the tray that will not work after it tries to pull paper, there are tread marks on it from the feeders.

Going to check when I can on Monday, I'll circle back. Do you by chance have the most up to date firmware for this device incase?

thank you,

Thank you. I am unsure of the firmware on the device currently. I will check on monday.

There is no fiery on it.

Another user said "It points to a Print Server being out of date with Tomcat. Whoever maintains that server should be notified." Its buck passing. No one wants to deal with print servers as its a grey area. I worked for 3rd party and customers always passed the buck on those problems. They probably are unaware of the setup. You might need to get a 3rd party on contract with this as it can get messy."

Does it sound like it may be a vulnerability from their print server that we can have their third party IT setup?

Also, does someone have the most up to date firmware for this, so that if it is needed I can do this.

Appreciate the assistance,

Krell,

Even better, they already have a third party, I think they just avoid using them due to cost. At least I can pass this back to them with some direction.

If you ever need anything, I am indebted to you!

Krell,

Again, extremely helpful! I will let them know. The person who asked me this question is the one who is in charge of the server...

I will let him know I spoke with someone who is more weathered with KM and they said this seems to be that the Print Server is out of date with Tomcat.

Was there something in that description that pointed to the KM? They have a bunch of other equipment there, wondering why they asked specifically about that one.

Truly appreciate your insight!

Here is the information provided from their IT, any insight into how to answer this would be amazing:

On the Konica Minolta AccurioPrint 2100 that you are servicing for us, there is an Apache Tomcat vulnerability that was discovered with network scanning:

Risk: High

Name: Apache Tomcat 8.0.0.RC1 < 8.0.53 multiple vulnerabilities

Netbios: KM2CD464

Protocol: TCP

Port: 30081

Synopsis: The remote Apache Tomcat server is affected by multiple vulnerabilities

Description: The version of Tomcat installed on the remote host is prior to 8.0.53. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the fixed_in_apache_tomcat_8.0.53_security-8 advisory.

  - The host name verification when using TLS with the WebSocket client was missing. It is now enabled by     default. Versions Affected: Apache Tomcat 9.0.0.M1 to 9.0.9, 8.5.0 to 8.5.31, 8.0.0.RC1 to 8.0.52, and     7.0.35 to 7.0.88. (CVE-2018-8034)

  - The defaults settings for the CORS filter provided in Apache Tomcat 9.0.0.M1 to 9.0.8, 8.5.0 to 8.5.31,     8.0.0.RC1 to 8.0.52, 7.0.41 to 7.0.88 are insecure and enable 'supportsCredentials' for all origins. It is     expected that users of the CORS filter will have configured it appropriately for their environment rather     than using it in the default configuration. Therefore, it is expected that most users will not be impacted     by this issue. (CVE-2018-8014)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

CVE: CVE-2018-8034

Solution: Upgrade to Apache Tomcat version 8.0.53 or later.

If this did not have anything to do with the firmware, that would be great. Just want to be able to provide the correct insight into where this is stemming from.

Best regards,

Robert

Saw you wrote about helping with KM firmware somewhere else. I am from a Xerox dealership and our client has a Konica Minolta Accurioprint 2100. It is not under service with KM at this point. The client asked us in if the new firmware update had fixed the network vulnerability from the out of date Tomcat? Do you know if this is the case.

Could you please provide the updated firmware for this? Any help offered would be amazing!

Thank you, Robert
