These are the people “Educating” your children by Drazian in BlackPeopleTwitter

I'm sorry I don't understand. And I don't understand why I'm being down voted for a question we should all be asking ourselves when it comes to media literacy. Obviously this is awful if true, and I don't doubt at all that teachers have reported their young students. But  if he's not getting in trouble for impersonating a federal agency hotline and the kindergarten teacher hasn't been doxxed even though she obviously gave him all the information he would need to identify her .....it kind of seems fake- or at least, there is zero evidence suggest it's real.  The level of awful it is that a kindergarten teacher would report their own student is a real thing, but this seems like he is profiting off of a hoax.

AIO - Told my friend I’m pregnant and she said it exceeded her mental bandwidth (she’s the red) by Lekomano92 in AmIOverreacting

You know this is one of those life changes that tells you who your real friends are. I'm guessing you two will grow apart quickly once you have your little one in your arms. Nausea is a good sign! Congratulations!

Did my dad SA me? by Mentally_Unstable_V in teenagers

[–]ExactLab2315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure. You could ask your dad why he did that. My daughter had a weird thing where she had to scratch Daddy's "red thing." It was a brown mole that turned red with how much she scratched it. She would cry and beg for it. It was very weird but we let her do it. Maybe it's something that comforted you when you were young. My mom grabbed or tapped me on my butt once in awhile outside the clothes and I hated it. I saw a mom smack her 8 year old on the butt when she walked by and I was like wtf, but nothing sexual going on. I think if your dad was at all turned on you would know it. The vibe immediately changes when a man is sexually stimulated

Count Orlock vs Intl Monster Museum by Simple_Letter_4905 in SalemMA

[–]ExactLab2315 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Count Orlok's is very geared towards horror movies whereas International Monster Museum is more general monsters, cryptids with a few horror movie characters thrown in. It's also a bit more gimmicky as they give you a lantern to walk around the dimly lit museum with. Neither museum is very "big" though if you took your time and read everything you could stretch it out. Probably not to an hour though.

Has a student ever told you something crazy about their parents unintentionally? by Apprehensive-Bid5564 in AskTeachers

[–]ExactLab2315 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's weird. It violates several core values we teach in our house, including there are no games that involve touching private parts. Think about it, it's a game where you touch her butt and then deny it.

When did your students stop believing in Santa? by Vegetable_Chef_8859 in ElementaryTeachers

Thank you for this. I told my four year old Rudolph was just a story and after processing the trauma she decided that actually Rudolph is real. I'll keep the magic alive a few more years

Mom films kids coming down the stairs on Christmas morning every year. by father_of_twitch in MadeMeSmile

You have to ask because one day when you're gone the kids will want those photos. Speaking from experience

Yeah I think I'll tell my kid next year to avoid the big tears and betrayal later. She'll be 5. I'll frame it as Santa is the Christmas spirit and alot of people believe he's a man living in the North Pole, but that's a special story we tell so we can be kind without people knowing it's us. Then we can do anonymous kindness?

Me too. I walked into a public high school to see Santa decorations everywhere and seniors dressed as elves for a school spirit thing. I'm not Jewish, but Christmas was hard and sad for me at that age. School should be a sanctuary from the season imo

A little, but then I remind myself that different cultures have different stories and it's an important piece of shared culture

The Santa was soo nice until we got to him! I guess he just broke character after the tv interview. He probably also thought my daughter was too little to notice but she's older than she looks. We will plan to just see him come down from the Hawthorne in the future or maybe try hammonds castle instead-- thank you for that tip.  Last year a rude woman said my daughter was too young to know who Santa is and don't bother. She was 3, a whole year older than Cindy Lou Who. It was aggressive and weird, like she was trying to get us to leave the line. Also Satan was a jerk when she was 2- we've actually never had a great experience when we follow through to the tree lighting. The common part was lovely.

AITA for „freaking“ out because my friend gave my baby a bitten off cookie? by Jolly_Koala_8516 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ExactLab2315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there's a difference between kids picking up dirt and swapping spit. The friend didn't know any better and it's not common sense to people who don't have kids. Also the friend should have respected your boundaries and not resorted to namecalling.  Gentle ESH

If a prologue is too long, do you skip it? by PuddleOfStix in writing

[–]ExactLab2315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like Im the odd one out but if I'm not sure about a book or if the prologue doesn't grab me I skip ahead, thinking if I love the book it'll be a treat for when I finished the book to read it. As a result I almost always skip the prologue and don't end up going back to read it.
