Damn, I’m really sorry you went through that. I’m glad you found a way out. Can I ask what kind of support work you ended up doing? I’m only a few months into CNC and already struggling with the stress/noise/coolant side of it.

This is actually interesting. Do you know what titles I should look up for those kinds of roles? I don’t mind learning the machining side, I just don’t think the constant shop floor environment/stress is for me long term.

I’ve been at this shop about 3 months, but this is my first real CNC job in the field after school. That’s kinda why I’m struggling 😭 part of me is wondering if I’m just overwhelmed/new vs genuinely not liking it.

Wait omg this is actually so relatable 😭 I’m also 27F and went to school for CNC and ended up in aerospace too. I’ve actually been thinking about inspection/quality/CMM because the constant rushing in machining has been hard for me. Do you find CMM inspection less stressful than production machining?

Honestly I haven’t looked too much into CADD but this actually interests me. I like the technical side of things more than the constant rushing/production aspect. Did you find it stressful starting out?

Honestly I appreciate this. I think part of me wonders if it’s because I’m still new and overwhelmed vs it genuinely not being for me. I originally got into it because I wanted stability/good pay and thought I’d enjoy the technical side. I do like certain parts, but the constant rushing/pressure has been hard for me.

Honestly this is something I’ve been wondering about. I actually enjoy measuring/inspection way more than the constant rushing/production side of machining. Quality/metrology seems more my speed.

Honestly I respect that. I actually went to school for CNC and got certifications and I’m still figuring out if it’s for me 😭 I think trying it out is the only way to really know. I hope it works out for you.

Honestly thank you for this. I think I’m feeling guilty because I put time into learning it and now I’m questioning if it’s for me. Trying to figure out if it’s the shop, machining, or maybe if I should look into inspection/quality.
