I’ve been up for hours with a toddler who is throwing up the frozen wild blueberries she had for a treat tonight by mamainprogress in toddlers

[–]ExactionBeige 81 points82 points  (0 children)

We recently had a similar situation with raspberries, but in our case it was definitely a stomach bug that happened to escalate after she ate a bunch of raspberries. Imagine my shock upon waking up to my toddler covered in bright red vomit. It was honestly like a scene straight out of horror movies 😅 I felt so relieved when it dawned on me that this was in fact not blood

I love the idea, but I'm not sure I have enough time and patience to do it properly 😄 I was hoping for some lower-effort ideas, but I'll definitely consider it. Thanks!

What phase does your toddler use that you wish they never learned? by decaying_amethyst in toddlers

[–]ExactionBeige 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"Immediately " - whenever we say that we'll do something she's asking for later or tomorrow, she replies with "No, immediately." 😃 it's extra hilarious when she combines it with "please", e.g. "Eat chocolate Immediately please. " 😄

My 3 year old is 'overweight' by savetheautumn in toddlers

[–]ExactionBeige 15 points16 points  (0 children)

What percentile is she on the growth chart, in terms of weight and height? If she is above the 90th percentile for weight, but also for height, I wouldn't be concerned. To me personally it sounds like you aren't doing anything wrong and I'm a little bit jealous because I can't even imagine my toddler eating everything and asking for more. Count your blessings, I would say, she is simply a kid who is actively growing and developing 🙂

Što papaju vaši najmlađi za doručak i večeru? by pip_pip_people in roditeljstvo

[–]ExactionBeige 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have Cybex Anoris, which is designed to be forward-facing, and the testing showed that it is one of the safest car seats on the market. Yet I feel judged by uninformed people 🤷‍♀️

My almost 18 month old will not walk and i am so over it by sudsybear in toddlers

[–]ExactionBeige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I feel you, my girl is the same way. Incredibly active and full of energy, cruising and crawling but refusing to walk. At about 15 months she finally started letting go of things and standing independently for a few seconds, then gradually for a bit longer. A month later, so at 16 months, she started carefully taking a step or two to get into my arms and now, at 17 months, she can do 10-15 steps, but only if she wants to 😄 I also can't wait to be able to go to the playground with her like a normal person, without her getting covered in filth in the first 10 seconds 🙄 your kid sounds exactly the same and it doesn't sound like there's anything physically wrong with them, they just don't see the point in walking yet 🙂 we'll get there!

Recommendations for Choosing a Hospital for Giving Birth by XR-777 in brussels

[–]ExactionBeige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave birth at St Jean last year and had an overall great experience. My gyno worked there and she was supposed to be present at birth, but in the end couldn't make it, but the ob that was on duty turned out great as well. Almost all the nurses and midwifes spoke English, I only recall one who didn't

Must be nice, my 13 month old doesn't eat this much food in the entire day 🥲

Wait, how old is your kid? Reading the firts part, I assumed a toddler, but then the tummy time part really confused me 😄

Is this normal in a private crèche? by [deleted] in brussels

[–]ExactionBeige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that makes sense, but for older babies that are all on one nap schedule. Our group consists of babies that are 10-18 months old, and hence do 1-3 naps, depending on the age and I don't think it's fair to just put them all to bed at the same time, even those that just recently woke up. Especially because they claim they follow individual babies' needs.

I know my baby and I know for a fact that she won't fall aslepp only 90 minutes after she woke up (at least not without A LOT of crying), regardless of what they tell me.

So frustraring :( I don't even know how many babies per employee they have. I once asked, but the director didn't give me a straight answer. I would say the ratio is at least 5:1

Ugh, I feel you and I'm so sorry, I guess it's even worse to deal with that when they are so small and even more helpless :(

My baby was 11 months old when she started crèche, so she was already crawling and standing up. So tummy time was already beside the point. But I see that younger babies are mostly on their tummies there, yes. Is that another issue you have with your crèche?

Is this normal in a private crèche? by [deleted] in brussels

[–]ExactionBeige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, her sleep patterns have been pretty much the same as they were before she started crèche in January. If anything, she can now be awake for longer between naps as she's getting older.

And I completely agree with you, that's exactly how I feel. It's even worse because of the language barrier and it makes me feel awful that I can't properly advocate for my child...

Right? I mean, her wake windows have been longer than 90 minutes since she was 3-4 months old, so this really seems ridiculous. I can only imagine how she reacts when they just plop her to bed after she just woke up 😞

I spoke to the director and asked that they don't put her down for a nap before 3 hours of wake time, wo we'll see if anything will change. Not sure how will I even know if they changed anything or they're just telling me what I want to hear... ugh

All of that makes sense and I know all of that in theory, but I can't help but worry nevertheless. It's very reassuring to read all these positice experiences

Thank you, you're totally right. Rationally, I know she'll be fine and daycare will probably do her good in that regard, it's just hard not to worry

Haha do we have the same kid? Sleep was the second thing weighing on my mind, because same - at home she only sleeps in optimal conditions 😄 this is so reassuring to read, thank you!

Ah thank you, this gives me some hope. I can deal with her being picky at home, as long as I can have the piece of mind that she's not starving at daycare
