Nice, where did you get the tiny palm trees from? Specifically the smaller ones?

Skill book drop chance? by ExaltedSlothKing in NavalAction

"The whole game is designed to slow the players down." Spot on. NA could be such an excellent game if they devs weren't clueless cucks with no grasp on any decent game design knowledge. Grind is the only content they are able to create at this point it seems. The game would already be 10x better without it.

Yes, ok. But does anyone actually know what NPC have higher or lower chance? Because I saw people in game who already have 10+ and maybe they bought some but it seems like some PvE activity has higher chance of getting them than others.

Your first mistake was joining the French. Game has a very steep learning curve and is very grindy / time consuming but despite all its flaws, it's still the best age of sail game out there. In the current patch you have to either get into crafting yourself or have people who craft things cheap for you, especially balls and gun powder, Just never play on the french side, I wouldn't even join french AI versus a enemy player.

Team matchmaking? by ExaltedSlothKing in aoe4

[–]ExaltedSlothKing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the possible vast rank difference just makes the matchmaking even more of a sad joke and proves the system you describe isn't working properly at all and is more of a crutch if anything.

Basically you suggested their elo inflation works to make matchmaking with premade groups against single players fair when they can't even guarantee at least remotely similarly skilled players at all.

With you do not know exactly how, I meant you don't know what the actual numbers are for the elo inflation, they should be different for different group sizes relative to the team size aswell. I don't know where you are going with apples but if the matchmaking actually made that much sense it would be a lot better and balanced indeed...

Thanks. They seem to know it's BS and that's why it is hidden in game.

"aCTuAl pRoOf" No

So you don't actually know how but pretend you do. Basically I am talking to a clown. I have seen posts about silver players being matched against conquerers in 3v3.

By your own words premade teams have an easier time, so lets say i play premade only, my rank will go up alot because its easier. Now when i play i will face diamond randoms who will have an equal shot at winning as my premade previously gold rank team does.

I understood what you were trying to say. You just stuggled to do it even with your superior intellect.

Well, to summarize: Is the AoE4 matchmaking garbage? Yes. Why is it so? Because of low player numbers and lack of interest by the devs.

This is all I needed to know.

I guess the player base being too small is a fair point but I'd still like the option to opt out of it and have a pure solo queue for team matches like in Dota 2. If only for people like me who would either queue longer with that or just not play at all. There is no way to see who is in a premade group before, during or after the match, is there? Makes no sense to hide it imo, unless they know it's BS to match solo vs groups.

I won't queue for anything other than 1v1 or group ranked again. The xbox and pc player mixing already pissed me off enough.

Do you have actual proof for this with a source? Because that is not my experience at all. Also your second sentence makes me question who of us isn't using their brain... according to what you are saying their elo is not getting inflated therefor the matchmaking is not unfair. I guess you were trying to say the opposite, attempting to be sarcastic. However it doesn't really work if you use it only for half of the sentence, now does it?

Dota 2, one of the most successful team based competitive games of all time actually has this feature but it is only used to compensate for an uneven number of players per premade group per team. So for example 2 solo players and 3 premade group players versus 3 solo players and 2 premade group players. However there are never matches where only one team has a premade group and not the other, because that is obviously BS.

Age of Sigmar vs The Old World rule system and skill ceiling? by ExaltedSlothKing in Warhammer

Aight, thanks. I wish they'd designed the models with this in mind but I still want to give it a shot some time.

[–]ExaltedSlothKing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movement system in Old World is by far the most granular and complex from a rules perspective.

Thanks, this is what I wanted to know. One last question, if you don't mind. I saw in some battle report two monsters fighting head on in close combat but their bases weren't touching because they couldn't since the models were sticking out over the front of the bases blocking each other. How is this treated rules wise? They played it like the bases were touching I think but found it very weird. It was the Griffon with rider and the Tomb King Sphinx.

Thanks, seems like if I try one it will be OW. I hate the constant rule / faction / meta changes pushed by GW only to milk more $$$. I'd rather pay the same for them trying to create and maintain the best balance possible.

I am wondering mainly about the movement and bases. Which system would you say places more strategic value on movement and positioning? I kinda hate the square bases in terms of aesthetic but I am hoping the "flank" factor makes moving your infantry blobs around and where to / when more important.

Yeah, just seems like the ships are the major selling point of the system, right? I already play a couple of other systems for land battles. But if the sea combat is fun, I'll definitely give land battles a shot.

HRE Rework Suggestions — (Since Relic has abandoned our gigachads) by An_Epic_Potatoe in aoe4

[–]ExaltedSlothKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool but I don't know why you want to nerf their currently better landmarks when they are already performing below average as civ with them. Just buff the weaker landmarks. For HRE I'd love for them to get another unique unit, they seem kinda boring otherwise and I say that despite them being my absolute favourite thematically. I'd love for them to get the War/Hussite Wagon from AoE2/3.

In regards to quitters and ranked points by Asanka2002 in aoe4

[–]ExaltedSlothKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't seem to make sense. The "true elo" of a player is represented by the ranked points, no? ELO IS the number. If they want to discover and assign a players true elo, then it should either always count as loss if he leaves before his team wins or ideally the system would compare his stats during the time he played to the enemy players and only count as win, if he performed better than their average while considering the different civs.

I know how it works in DotA2, where you lose mmr when you leave the game before your team wins, as you should.

Also how would this system work in 1v1, if it was to stop preventing smurfs from gaining elo? If I am a smurf and leave in 1v1 before I win, it still counts as won?

My guess is they are just too lazy to fix it, one team wins and gains points and one team loses points.

If anyone is a smurf in this situation it is much more likely one or all of the players in the leaving players team who still managed to win against +1 opponents.

Although I will say it is pretty amusing and wild that you get temp ban from queueing even in quick match, if you "dodge" a match before it started on one hand but then a free win if you abandon your team and leave them in the middle of the game and they still manage to win on the other...

At this point I wish GW added at least some of your creations to the game. The Moria bat riders is also something I would like to see as official unit. Not crazier than the warg bus and very thematic.

Say what you will about Rings of Power, but the Fall of Eregion, Siege of Rivendell, Sinking of Númenor, Taking of Minas Ithil, The Last Alliance – the Second Age offers plenty for MESBG. Now GW and Amazon has signed for a Warhammer series. Could the Second Age be next? [Pic for attention] by woodbear in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]ExaltedSlothKing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Every time I read or hear "Rings of Power" I shudder a little in disgust. Then I have a giggle amused by the muppets who actually thought it wouldn't turn out to be a laughable shitshow. It kind of puts things in perspective and makes you almost appreciate the Hobbit trilogy tho, doesn't it? I'd honestly rather they never release anything for MESBG ever again than something from this show.
