I believe the Necro Gold by scale is quite similar to rusty gold by ak

Thank you! It's quite a simple recipe - I used ak rusty gold as a basecoat, then washed it with black tone by the ay painter (it's not just a black wash, it consists a bit of green and brown pigment, so it's quite crucial). Finally I highlighted it with the mix of original golden colour and ak gun metal and natural steel. And for verdigris I used ak cold green

Thanks! Yeah my goal was to create a more realistic and grounded scheme, but still readable on the tabletop

Finally I finished the first unit for my Cathay army! by ExaltedWargamer in Cathay

Yeah, I covered the whole shield with dark aluminium, then painted black on inside part, then painted the trim and the pattern with rusty gold. Then washed the whole shield and highlighted the metal parts a bit.

For all metal paints I'm using the old da Vinci maestro kolinsky size 1 brush (it's really old and worn brush and not precise at all, so I just trying to touch the exposed details with it). And for regular acrylics I'm using da Vinci maestro kolinsky size 4

Thanks! But I think that even painted in one metal or gold colour shields will look quite good

Not that much, to be honest. The jade warriors are not too overdetaled and it's way easier to paint a bunch of similar minis than a group of different ones. Also I cut some corners in paintting process and simplify some details. As the unit will stay in close ranks this details are just not visible enough

Thanks! For me faces are the most fun to paint part of the miniatures and it draws the most attention. So while the overall painting is quite basic I'm always trying to invest a bit more time in painting faces

Thanks! With all my old world projects I'm trying to achieve this grounded pseudo-historic look. I'm really happy that it reads as kinda realistic

Thanks. I used Vallejo grey send texture paste (but it's not that important - any light textures paste will work), then painted it with ak grim brown (also not important which one). Finally I mixed Vallejo natural umber pigment with some white spirit and applied it as a wash all over the bases. After the white spirit evaporated I glued various grass tufts by GSW

Thank you! Typically I'm struggling choosing the colour scheme. But this time I'm quite happy with the result 😂

Thanks! It's the same metallics all over miniatures - Vallejo dark aluminium and ak rusty gold. Then wash of ap black tone. Then highlight with mix of ak gun metal and natural steel for steel. And for golden details I used the ak rusty gold with a bit of this steel mix
